Why there is no report about the meeting of the Generals with a very important person from yesterday?

Interesting.

I think Bkk Post had an article.

Because as foreigners we like to think we know better, when the bottom line is the opposite .

Wouldn't say opposite.

Locals may have a better clue on some things, foreigners certainly have a better grasp of other stuff.

Not like all of the Thais you meet are fountains of political knowledge, same goes for foreigners.

But then, this is a foreigner oriented forum, doubt many Thais pay attention to what members post.

And probably no one of consequence cares much one way or the other.

We're not telling Thai's that we know better, we're telling other foreigners we know better smile.png

Of course, we're often wrong.

Seriously, though - treating most elements in Thai politics as having more than superficial resemblance

to the monickers they bear is a laugh.

Most foreigners living here did not move to Thailand for ideological reasons, or because of political agenda

issues. The better part would like peace and stability, if possible with democratic notions attached. In case

that the latter part is not fully attainable, compromises are made. As long as Thailand is not an outright violent

dictatorship and/or not much aggro directed at foreigners, it will do for most, at least in my opinion.

People make allowances for democracy and human rights transgressions as they do not see Thailand as

being on the same level as Western countries when it comes to these issues. Call it a democracy in the

making or whatever fits. Not the same set of expectations, not the same measuring stick, not the same

benchmark.

It doesn't make people fascists, it does not necessarily mean that they are against democracy, it just means

that like most people on this Earth, they are not idealists - they conform, they compromise, they cut moral

corners, they dodge and deny some issues as they can't handle them. It's called life and we all do it at some

level or another.

Correct. There are a lot of smart Falangs, but most Falangs in Thailand are Falang Kee Nok.

About time someone from the court made sense. Of course they can not pick a new PM. He knows this too bad Suthep can't seem to understand this. So were off to Final Battle # 209 with rent a space at government house given him a big head.

PtP had no authority to do it either, at best they appointed a new party leader not PM in any form or stature - only the Senate is empowered to do that under article 7.....fact

Not true, they have the Authority. The reason that most Governments have Deputy Prime Ministers is so that they can take over as acting PM in the event of the PM being incapacitated, removed from office, or following impeachment. Thailand system is similar to the United States. If Obama was removed from office, died or was impeached, Joe Biden will take over.

and do I need to state the obvious here ? was the guy they nominated to the post of PM a DPM ? and I also draw attention to the fact that PTP had already stood down as a government

Section 124. The House of Representatives and the Senate shall each have one President and one or two Vice-Presidents who are appointed by the King from the members of such House in accordance with its resolution.

Section 125. The President of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate shall have the powers and duties to carry out the business of each House in accordance with its rules of procedure. The Vice-presidents have the powers and duties as entrusted by the President and act on behalf of the President when the President is not present or unable to perform his duties.

So no, they're the legal government as well as the one the people are choosing to follow.

So, who was the VP (deputy PM) of the lower house?

The upper house is clear but Yingluck's harem of eunuchs appeared to have many deputies.
