Class B - Hong Kong

Featured Replies

I am American.

Currently, I have a 1 year class B multiple entry visa from Sydney.

I also have a work permit from a legitimate company in Thailand, where I am the director.

I am thinking about going to Hong Kong to get another Class B visa as mine will soon expire.

Can anyone share any experiences they have had about the consulate in Hong Kong?

Any special documents that are required other than the work permit, and a letter from the company (VAT documents, invoices, etc.)?

Normally I would think that going to a consulate in a developed country, and already having a class b visa, and work permit would be enough, but I am hearing stories that Hong Kong has a tendency to reject without cause certain applications.

I think I might have already found an indirect answer to my question.

I was told that just before my 1 year visa runs expires, I can go to the immigration and get a 1 year extension for the next year.

So there is no need to go to another country and re-apply for a new visa.

Can anyone verify this?

Maybe this sounds like an easy and simple question, but I have been in Thailand for 18 months now, and still all this stupid visa crap confuses the ###### out of me.

Get a one year extension ( or up to your work permit expiry ) at Immigration in Suan Phlu ( 1900 baht ) and a multiple entry one year re-entry permit at the same time, and same place ( 3800 baht ) Problem solved. Do the same thing each year.

As usual, Dr. P is spot on. No need to apply for a new non-B. Just apply for an extension of your current non-B at Suan Plu.

Why, oh why, don't the corporate lawyers and/or the bean counters have even the slightest clue about the subject matter. IMHO get rid of 'em before they get you into deep doo-doo.
