I am afraid, that the general rules for imports to Thailand fully apply to postal parcels.

Under these rules you would require an import permit for all kind of foods, food supplements, pharmaceuticals and certains cosmetics (to name a few).

You will probably get a few responses like: done often, no problem (a mate says so too).

But I believe that this falls under being lucky/not being checked.

Even if you had a permit, you will be taxed ridicolously.

Have a look at the prices of imported food in the supermarkets.

And its NOT transport cost or the like.

You would have thought that as the parcel was written in english or a european language, they would have had the gumption to put the warning to you in at least english, mind you after reading some of their translation efforts,it would probably still be a challenge to understand it.

Had sweets etc sent before, can understand that certain foods should be restricted as they are in most countries. I guess rice would also not be allowed, due to the massive stocks.

Thx for help!

Yes this first time parcel has been checked!

And where I can get a permit for the right to import food?

Never hear about this before

Food has a value of aproxinently 20€

BTW, this phone number (0-2575-1008) is from the Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of. Public Health.

You find it in different websites about Thai customs and Thai post.

That would likely be the office for import licence I guess.

But for private imports/parcels I guess the effort would be much higher/expensive than the goods you want to receive?
