UDD threatens to escalate protest if Senate nominates a prime minister

5-13-2014-9-19-27-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship has threatened to step up its mass rally if the Senate nominates an interim prime minister for Royal approval.

Addressing supporters at Utthayan road, UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan said that citing Article 7 of the Constitution to nominate an interim prime minister cannot be legally done because there is no political vacuum yet which would open a leeway for the nomination.

He warned that if Mr Surachai Liangboonlertchai, the deputy Senate speaker, tried to invoke Article 7 to nominate an interim prime minister, the UDD would file a complaint with the police accusing of attempting to overthrow the government and would also escalate its rally.

The UDD, announced Jatuporn, will not accept an appointed prime minister nor a coup.

Meanwhile UDD secretary-general Natthawut Saikua accused Mr Surachai of siding with the People’s Democratic Reform Committee for inviting PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban to explain to the Senate how he thinks the political impasse can be resolved.

Well, since they promised a million people and only got thousands, I don't suppose that "escalate" means increase their numbers. They've already thrown their best punch, there, and it bounced off like a nerf ball. So, what does "escalate" mean? If their track record indicates anything, it perhaps means arson, random pipe bombs, grenades, drive-bys, etc. But wait, that would still not mean escalation, because these things are already happening on a daily occurrence right now. So what does it mean? Anthrax attacks? Nerve gas? Abducting children school children. What?

You might want to be careful with the school children cracks, as that is a bit touchy at the moment

Perhaps you are unaware, but Thaksin loyalists have already threatened to start abducting people.

I remember that story. Threatening to kidnap General Prayuth's children was vile and stupid. I remember thinking it was like bringing a salad fork to a gunfight, and then handing the armed opponent an extra banana clip.

I heard there where some issues regarding payments. It could be the reason less people showed up.

They have even used the joker: Robert Amsterdam.

You two are good. The coordination is excellent. Whatever you're getting, you're worth more. Black propaganda is hard to do, harder to do well. This is A-Prime-Top-Value stuff, so make sure that's what you get.

Kind of like poking an entire Army?

I have been hearing a lot about this Amsterdam guy, could anyone tell me a bit about him?

He's a lawyer specializing in Thai work permit regulations. whistling.gif

Seriously, his Wikipedia page is rather useless, as that's part of what he's about.

Suffice to say that were most foreigners to step foot on demo stage and give a speech,

they'd have issues getting their next visa.

To be fair - he does other countries too, but pretty much same style.

And from past experience: the red rallies start strong and get reduced very fast (most probably internal cheating on the money and too cheap food). So I think in 2-3 days more there aren't more than the hardcore and the Cambodian left.

But they do have friendly police officers and girls. thumbsup.gif

"Le moment supreme" is of course when Thaksin's fancy mouthpiece starts inciting the Reds by fooling them into believing Abhisit will be jailed by the international court of justice soon. Completely ignoring the fact that AV would have been cleared by Thaksin's own amnesty bill. Sooo easy those Reds.

Oh, come on, Wanda. Stop with the conspiracy theories. The other day, you implied that a person of significance, perhaps an Air Force general or such, living near Utthayan Road had "invited" the UDDers to bring their rally, there. And that all Thais just knew this was true. Who, Wanda, who? You mean like the person in this story who was responsible for a forgery? From the Thaivisa newsfeed that reported:

From Thaivisa newsfeed: BANGKOK — A foundation run by His Majesty the King's eldest daughter is denying claims that they sent support to the Redshirt rally in Western Bangkok.

The claims stem from an undated photo that shows a white Toyota van operated by the Miracle of Life Foundation, which is founded and chaired by Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, parked amid Redshirt demonstrators on Aksa Avenue.

The caption accompanying the photo claims that "903" - a codeword commonly understood to mean Princess Ubolratana - is throwing her support behind the pro-government movement and has dispatched supplies to the demonstrators in their rally site.

After the photo was widely circulated on social media, Manas Nonuch, an executive committee member of the Miracle of Life Foundation, met with Thammasala Police in Nakhon Pathom province today and urged them to pursue legal action against the original author of the post.

According to Mr. Manas, the photo was doctored to mislead the public. The Foundation has only one white Toyota van in its fleet, and that vehicle has never been dispatched to a Redshirt rally, Mr. Manas said.

"Let me stress that the Foundation is not related to this matter in any way," said Mr. Manas. "The forgery is utterly inappropriate and offensive toward [Princess Ubolratana]."
