UDD threatens to escalate protest if Senate nominates a prime minister

5-13-2014-9-19-27-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship has threatened to step up its mass rally if the Senate nominates an interim prime minister for Royal approval.

Addressing supporters at Utthayan road, UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan said that citing Article 7 of the Constitution to nominate an interim prime minister cannot be legally done because there is no political vacuum yet which would open a leeway for the nomination.

He warned that if Mr Surachai Liangboonlertchai, the deputy Senate speaker, tried to invoke Article 7 to nominate an interim prime minister, the UDD would file a complaint with the police accusing of attempting to overthrow the government and would also escalate its rally.

The UDD, announced Jatuporn, will not accept an appointed prime minister nor a coup.

Meanwhile UDD secretary-general Natthawut Saikua accused Mr Surachai of siding with the People’s Democratic Reform Committee for inviting PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban to explain to the Senate how he thinks the political impasse can be resolved.

Well, since they promised a million people and only got thousands, I don't suppose that "escalate" means increase their numbers. They've already thrown their best punch, there, and it bounced off like a nerf ball. So, what does "escalate" mean? If their track record indicates anything, it perhaps means arson, random pipe bombs, grenades, drive-bys, etc. But wait, that would still not mean escalation, because these things are already happening on a daily occurrence right now. So what does it mean? Anthrax attacks? Nerve gas? Abducting school children? What?

Well... one thing is for sure, there IS a political vacuum.

I remember that story. Threatening to kidnap General Prayuth's children was vile and stupid. I remember thinking it was like bringing a salad fork to a gunfight, and then handing the armed opponent an extra banana clip.

....But he was not! So what does it says to you? That you are wrong, period!

  • Popular Post

Stop the flow of money from Dubai, and you stop the Red thugs.

  • Popular Post

This is all just posturing over Suthep being allowed to visit the senate. Hot air, bluster whatever you want to call it.

Provided the senate keeps Suthep's expectations realistic and is the focal point for discussion with all parties it can serve a purpose

More threats from someone who has someone managed to stay out of jail, despite numerous breaches of his bail conditions.

Surely they should issue a warrant for his immediate arrest in order to take the sting out of his tail....?! Oh, of course, that would involve action on the part of the police, his faithful servants...!!

You two are good. The coordination is excellent. Whatever you're getting, you're worth more. Black propaganda is hard to do, harder to do well. This is A-Prime-Top-Value stuff, so make sure that's what you get.

And from past experience: the red rallies start strong and get reduced very fast (most probably internal cheating on the money and too cheap food). So I think in 2-3 days more there aren't more than the hardcore and the Cambodian left.

UDD???...... hahahahaha.

Almost as comical as the CAPO keystone cops.

They said there will be a million reds rise up if Yingluck was ousted.... she was ousted, nobody rose up... CAPO also confirmed an uprising was probable......

They said if any cabinet ministers were thrown out, that a million reds would rise up..... they were thrown out, they didn't rise up.... CAPO also confirmed that an uprising was probable..........

They said that if the NACC ruled against Yingluck over the rice scam, a million reds would rise up....... The NACC ruled against her, there was no risiung up...... CAPO once again confirmed that an uprising was likely........

Now they are saying that if the senate installs an interim PM and appointed cabinet, that they will rise up, CAPO has also confirmed that this will happen.......

The senate will select an interim PM and they will eventually appoint a new cabinet so the country is able to move ahead....... There will be no uprising.

Why do I know this????????

Because CAPO and the UDD are delusional to think they have any support to create an uprising and have become the latest 'daily joke'.... well..... they were always considered the daily joke, it just gets more and more confirmed on a daily basis. Nobody with any teeth takes them seriously.

The support for the reds that were in my immediate vicinity of the Thai extended family and other Thai acquaintances have all but lost every last bit of interest in Thaksin, red shirt or and Shin based movement.... They just want to move on now, they even seem to be more welcoming of the Dems, they have seen the light. They are laughing at the UDD now.

It's over.

He was on CNBC Asia this morning.....meant to b an interview....he was just spewing it out non-stop....what nice piece of crappola

Still he must b creaming it off Thaksin....it shows how immature the country really is when a guy like that can just cruise in and out stirring up the hornets nest....can see it happening elsewhere.....he would be in the slammer for sedition

Seriously, his Wikipedia page is rather useless, as that's part of what he's about.

Suffice to say that were most foreigners to step foot on demo stage and give a speech,

they'd have issues getting their next visa.

To be fair - he does other countries too, but pretty much same style.

If ever a crisis required people sitting down and talking, this is it - many times over. And yet, whenever people have tried to suggest just that - whether they be Abhisit or Surachai - they are immediately drowned out by a sea of intransigence. So when Jatuporn stands up and says - " this is what we want, don't do this and don't do that - or they'll be trouble " - and then goes on to say - " and don't sit down and talk either - talking's forbidden. " When that happens you lock yourselves into a crisis. Not only is the door slammed on issues. But the door is slammed on any outreach whatsoever. That's a recipe for hurtling over the edge. And that is precisely what is happening now. Jatuporn is already vaulting out of control. He's threatened civil war. Now he is threatening Surachai. When the DSI and CAPO are under the control of a man who refuses to abide by a Constitutional Court ruling - there is no reason left. Not one charge against Jatuporn has been filed during this period, and the investigation into the infamous February 23 UDD rally where secession was openly promoted was quickly swept under the carpet by Chalerm, who dismissed it as groundless. In the meantime, DSI has to rent new filing space for all the charges they've piled on Suthep. Pheu Thai's newly chosen PM has claimed a legal mandate. But what he has actually inherited is the most dysfunction period in many, many years.

"Le moment supreme" is of course when Thaksin's fancy mouthpiece starts inciting the Reds by fooling them into believing Abhisit will be jailed by the international court of justice soon. Completely ignoring the fact that AV would have been cleared by Thaksin's own amnesty bill. Sooo easy those Reds.

Oh, come on, Wanda. Stop with the conspiracy theories. The other day, you implied that a person of significance, perhaps an Air Force general or such, living near Utthayan Road had "invited" the UDDers to bring their rally, there. And that all Thais just knew this was true. Who, Wanda, who? You mean like the person in this story who was responsible for a forgery? From the Thaivisa newsfeed that reported:

From Thaivisa newsfeed: BANGKOK — A foundation run by His Majesty the King's eldest daughter is denying claims that they sent support to the Redshirt rally in Western Bangkok.

The claims stem from an undated photo that shows a white Toyota van operated by the Miracle of Life Foundation, which is founded and chaired by Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, parked amid Redshirt demonstrators on Aksa Avenue.

The caption accompanying the photo claims that "903" - a codeword commonly understood to mean Princess Ubolratana - is throwing her support behind the pro-government movement and has dispatched supplies to the demonstrators in their rally site.

After the photo was widely circulated on social media, Manas Nonuch, an executive committee member of the Miracle of Life Foundation, met with Thammasala Police in Nakhon Pathom province today and urged them to pursue legal action against the original author of the post.

According to Mr. Manas, the photo was doctored to mislead the public. The Foundation has only one white Toyota van in its fleet, and that vehicle has never been dispatched to a Redshirt rally, Mr. Manas said.

"Let me stress that the Foundation is not related to this matter in any way," said Mr. Manas. "The forgery is utterly inappropriate and offensive toward [Princess Ubolratana]."
