CAPO issues statement to warn senators against nominating new PM

It's not against the law. Stop making up stories CAPO.

I guess that depends on what you mean by "law." Here in Thailand lots of things are called "laws." For many years the "law" was that a Thai woman married to a farang could not register land in her name. No problem with Thai men who had farang wives, of course. Then it turned out that it wasn't a statute, passed by Parliament. It wasn't even a Revolutionary Decree, issued by one of the coup Committees. It was a "ministerial regulation" issued by the Minister of the Interior during the Thanin Kraivichien government. Chuan Leekpai, the last honest Democrat, got it rescinded.

In this case CAPO is citing one of many academics who says that it would be an obvious Violation of both Articles 2 and 3 of the 2007 Constitution, as well as Article 7, and a couple more articles whose numbers I don't happen to remember.

Swings and round abouts, the constitutional court already stated that the PTP had to elect a new caretaker PM after they forced Yingluck out, and now this very same court says it's okay to have the senate elect a PM?

The Thais couldn't agree on the colour of the bovine scatology that is coming from many of their mouthes !!

The new speaker elect still has to have the royal seal of approval does he not? If he hasn't is he breaking the constitutional laws himself ?

Well, since Thailand does not have a legitimate, 'acting', caretaker PM, (the caretaker cabinet chose to violate the constitution and anoint a non-MP as PM), it then falls to the Senate, which is the only elected body in Thai government at this point, to select a caretaker PM to serve until elections are held. When Thaksin stops all his intimidation and violence, via UDD, then the EC may see a window to hold elections.

Back in October, the PTP announced they were forming a committee to offer suggestions for reform, but, like all committees, it never produced anything (correct me if they submitted a plan). PTP is a 'dead man walking' as 304 of their MPs are going to be banned for their shenanigans regarding the changed wording in the 'blanket' Amnesty Bill.

As for the new Senate Speaker elect, since the Senate is a legitimately elected body and its members approved by the EC, the Royal Endorsement will be a formality so, don't worry your pretty little head about that. Has the 'acting', PTP, caretaker PM been endorsed yet? You know, the one who was never an MP and the Constitution states the PM must be chosen from the MPs.

CAPO urges Senate to forget about non-parliamentary PM

PNPOL570514001000501_14052014_051159.jpg

BANGKOK, 14 May 2014 (NNT) - The Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) on Wednesday issued the 8th statement calling for a stop to the unlawful selection and appointment of an interim prime minister due to fears that it might lead to violence in the country.

CAPO Secretary-General Tharit Pengdit said the center urged the Senate as well as other groups to stop seeking an impartial premier right away. As for some Senate members who showed their support for the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), the official said they might face legal charges and the CAPO would keep a close eye on them.

If the court approved arrest warrants for 43 PDRC leaders, the center would arrest more than 20 of them who had no personal guards, Mr Tharit said. As for PDRC top leader Suthep Thaugsuban, the CAPO would immediately arrest him if the opportunity arose.

So CAPO now think they are the government!

Take a step back. Look at the OP and where it s from. Even you cannot deny that The Nation has anti-government leanings. Did you notice the lack of anti-government spin? Does it tell you something if The Nation cannot spin the storey to suit their favoured position? It just might be that even The Nation cannot deny that, in this instance, CAPO is right.

Everyone who cares about Thailand is anti-PTP government unless they are brainwashed or 'on the payroll'.

I think it is disgusting to compare these lovely animals with the PTP scam....

PDRC posters have run out of arguments. All we get now from them is petty tripe, posts that are lame and inane, and it's not like anyone got a lot out of their posts the past six months anyway.

But post they must so post they do regardless of quality. It's like doing piecework in a factory.
