Hitler's house 'to be migrant language school'

Berlin: The house where Adolf Hitler was born could become a language school for immigrants, under plans being considered by the Austrian government.

From the outside, the former guesthouse at 15 Salzburger Vorstadt could be just another historic building fallen on hard times. The town where it lies, Braunau am Inn, is a tiny backwater near Linz.

But on April 20 1889, Adolf Hitler was born here, and the debate over what to do with the house is so politically charged, it has gone all the way to the Austrian interior ministry.

"For us, given the meaning this building has, it's important to use it in a way that benefits people," Alexander Marakovits, a spokesman for the ministry said.

Would be better to knock it down.

You could either knock it down, or you make it a museum...."That is the place where the evil dictator comes from".....But that might attract a lot weirdos.

You are forgetting that the man himself was part Jewish. His mother worked for a jewish family and had some sort of immaculate conception for which the family paid her a tidy sum.

It was never investigated by the man but widely believed that was part of what fueled the hitler family hate of jews.

That and teh fact that they were like allrich families able to dodge drafts and military service due to money and power.

They could have a slogan along the lines of:

"You VILL Learn und Ve Vill ask Ze Questions!!!"

What language will they teach there? Hebrew would be a good start, and if that could be communicated to his spirit as well.

Don't be silly.

They'll teach German for sure. They're immigrants to Austria not Israel.

It's a good use of the house.

Please if you're going to post something like it's a fact do just a little research beforehand. The question of Jewish parenthood was not with Adolf but his Father and it's been pretty much debunked.

"Baptized a Catholic, Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was born on April 20, 1889, in the Upper Austrian border town Braunau am Inn, located approximately 65 miles east of Munich and nearly 30 miles north of Salzburg.

His father, Alois Hitler (1837-1903), was a mid-level customs official. Born out of wedlock to Maria Anna Schickelgruber in 1837, Alois Schickelgruber changed his name in 1876 to Hitler, the Christian name of the man who married his mother five years after his birth. Alois Hitler's illegitimacy would cause speculation as early as the 1920s -- and still present in popular culture today -- that Hitler's grandfather was Jewish. Credible evidence to support the notion of Hitler's Jewish descent has never turned up. The two most likely candidates to have been Hitler's grandfather are the man who married his grandmother and that man's brother."
