Guess That Tool with krisb...

Featured Replies

First thought was that it was some sort of sighting tool for a gun, but does not appear to have a hole to peer through at the 'thin end' (sorry technical term).

Is it military or gun associated ?

No, wait.... a corset tightener

could it be a wit-a-wat-watter? huh.png

Is it military or gun associated ?

Yes it is indeed....

Maybe it's used to tighten something. Nuts, perhaps. There are plenty of nut tighteners in Pattaya. Or medals.

It is used as a multi purpose tool that attaches onto a type of machine gun for soldiers.

Gets me exactly what it does.

Edit, could it be for taking the gun apart?

Is it military or gun associated ?

Yes it is indeed....

Its a cork maker for a pop gun.

Leather punch?

No, bad luck.

My wife says it's a nose hair trimmer.

Ok lets have a go...Switch to Antiques Roadshow Mode.

Engraving says 'Le Protector' therefore French? and a weapon ? 19th century (pure guess but krisb has selected old tools.)

If a weapon, lever has to operate it, but how, does not seem any grips.

No idea of size from graphic. But if it is small, Could it be palmed ? An early pepper juice squirter .? Or even a gun, bullets would have to be tiny.?

Correct!...I think.

It is in fact a palm pistol!

Would leave a nasty headache trying to trim nose hairs with that.w00t.gif

Thaidown has to be Krisb alter ego.

He uncannily seems to know what most of these are.

So......he is either our oldest board member or its krisb in disguise trying to drag out this quiz into the next century.

Haaaaa....no mate.

I've met a few guys on here in 'real life', and they will tell you I am's what I am's. Just krisb.w00t.gif It would steal far too much time running 2 avatars.

Hey feel free to add to this thread and post a new tool or device, or even some medieval torture tool device thingy!thumbsup.gif

Well i am pretty old but have never (to my knowledge) met krisb.

Certainly did not know all of them and a couple of others were only guessed after a couple of clues given.

One, the reed basher for thatching I have actually handled in the past.so that was easy, for me.

I do like to keep the mind active and this sort of quiz helps. Of course now I'm going to have to sit in the corner sulking and not look at this thread again.

Suppose I could drive into Pattaya and have a beer or 2 at Mobi's and annoy the people there instead.

Keep the quiz going krisb.

Wow that's a tricky little number.

I will guess early Victorian tool used to unlock some type of locks.

It must have sat on a corresponding cog and the handle used like a saw.

My wife says it's for weighing objects somehow.

could it be a wit-a-wat-watter? huh.png

Maybe a witawata-swatter. Every home should have one.

An early type of jack?

A Jack was my thought also.

Mind you ... I'm drinking the Duty Free OP Rum ATM ... laugh.png

mmm mmm duty free.

Solely based on your clue, is it for making ropes?

The cord goes in the central part and the handle and teeth and pushed/ pulled in a sawing action which spins the central cog.

Miles away but logical I suppose

eyecatcher...you've got the concept of the machine ie the twisting , but not for making rope

Howabout basketware?, ...in goes the wet reeds while they are soft and twisted and later dry out into a basket handle......

I knew I would get it!.....yes?....no?

The secrets in the slit in the middle of the cog, and the hook at the back.

I'll guess wire rope splicer?
