stevehaigh
i just read on this site http://www.asiatradingonline.com/visas.htm that the US is no longer issuing passports outside the US except temporary emergency ones. i looked up passport renewals on the bkk embassy website and didn't see anything about it. does anyone know the status on US passport renewal in BKK? steve

lopburi3
US passports are not issued overseas and have not been for several years. This is nothing new. Only a temporary passport may be issued by the Consulate for emergency type travel. But you can still obtain a regular passport while you are overseas. The paperwork is sent to the US for the issue of the passport and then it is sent to the Consulate. The only change is the Consulate no longer has a stock of 10 year passport that they can issue - it has to be made in the US.
