can you get visas in langkawi? i read there is a thai consulate there.

how about getting to langkawi, there are direct flights from bkk or phuket? what about bus and boat? any info please?

Don't know if there's a consulate there or not, but there is immigration. You can fly bkk-KL-langkawi (no direct flights), or you can take a ferry from Satun Thailand, to Langkawi as well.

I have a friend there and asked him to check if they could issue me with a Non O on the basis of marriage.

He called back about a month ago to say that they couldn't, but were hoping to be able to do so in the future.

In the time the Thai consulate has been open on Langkawi, I've yet to notice anything posted here as to TV members being successful/unsuccessful obtaining visas there. Might be worth a shot just as a learning experience (if one really has time to kill) but I wouldn't go to Langkawi with any expectations.
