Many people still queue up to exchange for commemorative coins

BANGKOK: -- A lot of people have still queued up to exchange for commemorative coins issued to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 60 years on the throne when state agencies open services on Wednesday after five-day holidays.

A source said the Treasury Department opened the coin exchange service Wednesday morning after the inauguration of the service last Friday, which is announced a special public holiday.

Many people have still swarmed at the department to exchange for the commemorative coins since early Wednesday morning.

A department official said a number of issued coins are sufficient for people’s demand.

The exchange service is available for both central and provincial areas.

He suggested the people not to queue up long for the exchange of the coins. Instead, they should come and gradually exchange the coins because the service will be continued for several more

days.

On an initial period of the exchange service, he conceded, the department must distribute 500-700 queue slips per day so that people need not queue up long outdoor.
