Typical macho man married typical good-looking lady and after the wedding, he laid down the following rules:

"1) I'll be home when I want, if I want and at what time I want and I don't expect any hassle from you.

2) I expect a great dinner to be on table unless I tell you that I won't be home for dinner.

3) I'll go hunting, fishing, boozing and card-playing when I want with my old buddies and don't you give me a hard time about it.

Those are my rules. Any comments?"

A Thai Navy officer holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander is facing public outrage after allegedly causing a severe road crash involving a 15-year-old boy and refusing to take financial responsibility for the victim’s critical medical treatment. According to Mr Noy 51, who spoke to the media on 20 July, on behalf of his injured son, the crash occurred at around 23:00 on 9 July on Itsaraphap Road in Bangkok. His son, identified only as Mr Nai, was riding a motorcycle home after buying Pad Thai when he was struck by a pickup truck emerging from a nearby military compound. The impact of the collision rendered the teenager unconscious and left him with life-threatening injuries, including a fractured leg, ruptured kidney and spleen and intestinal perforations. He is currently being treated at Phra Pinklao Hospital. Police at Bangkok Noi Police Station confirmed that the pickup truck was at fault, as the boy had been riding in the main traffic lane. Despite this, the vehicle’s compulsory third-party insurance (Por Ror Bor) had expired, rendering the driver’s first-class insurance policy void in terms of liability coverage. Mr Noy expressed deep concern over the apparent lack of accountability from the military officer involved. “The officer visited my son five days ago and simply brought a gift basket,” Mr Noy said. “When I asked about medical expenses, he told me to use the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme. I see no sincerity in his offer to help.” The family fears the case may quietly disappear due to the officer’s military status. Mr Noy said he was speaking out to demand justice and ensure his son receives the compensation and care he deserves. This sweeping directive follows a recent policy laid out by Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, with the goal of achieving drug-free communities across the country within a three-month timeframe. The campaign officially launched during a strategic meeting at the Army Club in Bangkok on 17th July 2025. Phased Strategy for Drug Eradication The campaign is structured into three distinct phases spread over three months. The first phase, from 20th July to 1st August, focuses on conducting thorough community inspections. This involves gathering detailed intelligence on drug-related activities and swiftly apprehending dealers for prosecution or rehabilitation. During the second phase, we will intensify enforcement efforts and conduct repeat inspections to make sure we have not overlooked any offenders. The public will be encouraged to participate actively by providing confidential tips, while community leaders, health workers, and religious figures are invited to draft agreements, known as "village constitutions," to prevent drug infiltration. The final phase will concentrate on evaluating the operation’s effectiveness based on community satisfaction with drug management efforts. Areas successfully eliminating drug activities will be heralded as exemplary drug-free zones. Accountability and Recognition Throughout the operation, police performance will be closely tracked. Units that achieve notable success will receive praise and potential rewards, while units that neglect their responsibilities will face disciplinary measures.
