I can see that this bill is intended for new immigrants who obtain citizenship then immediately move back to their home country - just using a Canadian passport as a "get out of jail free" card in case their own country decides civil war is the best route to peace and happiness (instead of shopping).

I don't have a problem with that.

I'm entitled to 3 passports, but having worked and paid taxes in Canada for the last 23 years I don't think it is aimed at me because I retire to Thailand and receive my well earned Canadian and UK pensions there. (Never did do enough time in NZ to qualify for a pension there).

Yes, it'll take longer to get Citizenship in the first place, but if Canada is where you intend to make your home during your working years you'll have nothing to worry about.

The Brits must be drooling over this.
