Transport Minister asks state enterprise workers not to go on strike

BANGKOK, 19 May 2014 (NNT) – Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt has asked all state enterprise workers not to go on strike following the State Enterprises Workers’ Relations Confederation (SERC)’s announcement to comply with the anti-government group.

In response to the planned strikes on May 22nd by the SERC, Minister Chadchart asked that all state enterprise workers carry out their duties as usual and not take orders from the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC); otherwise, the people will be the ones who suffer most. He also asserted that the current government would not step down until a new cabinet has been selected.

Meanwhile, Mr. Prapat Jongsanguan, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), expressed confidence that SRT workers will not join the PDRC campaign, while calling on the protesters to end their rallies as they have done enough damage to this nation.

In the meantime, Acting Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) Naret Boonpiem said BMTA employees will not take orders from the PDRC and will not do anything that would affect the people.

The State Enterprises Workers’ Relations Confederation (SERC) and the PDRC met on Sunday during which both sides issued a statement calling on all state enterprises to express their clear stance against the government and go on strike on May 22nd in an attempt to pressure the rest of 12 Pheu Thai ministers to resign.

Well, I'm not sure Thais are good at striking.

In France we are => if the boss of the factory wishes to change the vegetables at the canteen we'll strike for 3 weeks.

Same for demonstrations. Suthep he had what? 10,000? at the best 100,000.

In France, when a mayor wants to modify red lights in a city, 10,000 people demonstrate.

if a minister is just suspected to modify the teachers vacations, this is 200,000.

And against the gay marriage, 2 millions.

Thais are small players at strikes and demonstrations.

Maybe the hit to their meagre pay packets is another reason.....

Most Thais just want to make a living.......but, they have shown that they'll demonstrate.....but need to be paid ::)

hahahaha...you must be careful on the food in France......

Suthep had at his peak Millions (up to who cheat the numbers it was estimate between 1 and 5+ Millions). But now are much less I think.

In Thailand: My staff is super angry with the Shinawatras, and a few month ago, they were for revolution fighting etc etc.....now they have the same opinions but are too lazy to go for the demonstrations....Too far away, no money for Taxi, don't know how to go with the motorbike. No persistence these young people....

I forgot => of course we'll strike and demonstrate to get our salaries from the boss for the days we don't work due to strike. Well, we'll not ask bonus, in that case.

It's damage control time for the Pheu Thai administration. They are forever trying to plug in newly sprung leaks of empathy for the reform movement. It's a pointless exercise, because the populous resistance to Pheu Thai is sweepingly present in the city of Bangkok. It simply won't go away. And it will be present a month from now whatever happens.

Depends what side of the fence you sit when some one says that Sutheps protestors have done enough damage, I think they have brought to the attention just how stupid the amendments (reforms) to the constitution that Thaskin Shuinawatra government introduced ,with untold amendments from the academic's, , the corruption , the nepotism, the under handed way the PTP governed , there failure to implement correct departmental policy , failure at implementing promised programs, intimidation , violence , bribery , how much damage did an suspect elected government do, would be more to the point.bah.gif

Transport Minister Chadchart should try to charm the state enterprise unions with more gay porn pictures of him looking macho in shorts and t-shirt on social media. Apparently he is so vain that he employs a photographer to follow him around to continue his ridiculous media sensation myth. He is just another greed merchant who jumped on the Thaksin money wagon. Hi-speed train - my ass.

Derailments are the drivers fault, for steering trains off the lines.

Buses not to travel on hilly routes.

All motor cycle lanes abused by parking--etc.

Major roads in shocking condition, try travelling Udon-Jompien Highways 2---304---331, from good to shocking, the shocking parts arrive unexpectedly.

Highway intersections on these roads are far too numerous, nicely moving traffic --stop start stop start.

These people ought to strike because of his neglect also.

Well you being so adamantly for the anti government movement why don't you put your money where your mouth is and pay for them to go to the demonstrations. I'm sure you wouldn't mind a bit of a dent in the pocket to further the cause?

So a resistance to the Pheu Thai administration is sweeping Bangkok, according to you...............and?

Ever thought about the rest of the country - I know it's not something you could accuse those bangkokians that support suthep of ever doing but there is the rest of Thailand out there.

If you have been in Thailand for longer than a couple of years then you would have seen the massive improvements in the 331 and 304. They used to be single lane and they are now both moving toward a minimum of 2 lanes for the whole distance. that is a mssive investment in areas that badly needed it under previous goverments.

Dr Bruce, I drive 630 kilometers to Jomptien (one way) from Udon.

The 304 over the mountain apart from a section is fine. and a big improvement, but it was being carried out before this government came to Office.

32 years here, and driving all that time -if I say vast amounts of the 3 highways surfaces are not good is because I am aware of it. My comments are not of a political nature unless any said government has been negligent.

It doesn't matter if you have 1-2 or 3 lanes -it is the road surface that is important as well.

In my new car on 331 I hit a pot hole half a meter wide and 30 centimeters deep, buckled my Mag wheel and burst the tyre.

I never travel at night on this route because you never know where the pot holes are to dodge, they are spasmodic and crop up any where along the route.

I agree that improvements have been made, but the problem is you take them for granted UNTIL all of a sudden you are caught unaware.

Next month -travel with me and see for your self and take notes along the 630 kilometers.thumbsup.gif

I am making a political point, since the Taksin affiliated parties came to power there have been so many inprovements to the roads in the heart of Thailand. Your journey can now be done in about 9 hours. How long would it have taken 10 years ago?

I used part of your route just this week, I joined from the 344 and left it where it crossed the 24. I travel around Thailand a lot for my work and the changes over the past 10 years have been imense, manily because the Taksin governments have been spending money over the whole of Thailand rather than letting it rot.
