I would have been arrested and deported a number of times... of course it is not the Thai / Buddhist way to show that kind of affection in public, but definitely not forbidden... one reason Thai women don't want to neither kiss nor hug nor walk hand in hand with their loved one is that they are afraid to be judged as low-class / bargirl / wh***... Otherwise I would not post it! Near my hometown , a farang married a Thai wife stay 2 years together , then there was a chrismas celebration party by his company! A female working coleauge come to him to hug him, the Thai wife see , run outside of the room , after he arrived at home 10 minutes later,the kitchen in the house was on fire ! I think the tomboys the OP of that topic meant the women who tape their breasts, have men's haircuts, west men's clothes and have girlfriends who the touch and sometimes grope and kiss in public. We were in a restaurant and I asked Mrs. G why a young couple there seemed to have to problem with PDA. The "boy" couldn't keep his hands off his girlfriend. She said "he" was a tomboy, if it were a male boyfriend, that would never happen. Don't know why but that's life in Isaan. I don't think the same leniency applies to ladyboys and men. My girlfriend will give me a peck on the cheek in public, but then she used to work abroad and is maybe more used to these things. But certainly no full on French kissing.
