Not sure if this the right forum or even website to post this on but hopefully I don't offend and here goes:

With the current political situation hurting businesses I'd imagine there are going to be more opportunities to buy businesses at a discount for a period of time. I'm wondering if anybody has some knowledge about the logistics of purchasing and operating something like a massage parlor as a foreigner, I'm speaking of the kind that offers extras. How profitable do these type of places tend to be in Thailand? Would the profit be entirely wiped out by police taking bribes especially if owned by a foreigner? Would local organized crime be another serious threat to owning the business and its profitablility and if so how does it generally work or play out? I'm thinking of a cheaper place in a high traffic area to spruce up or maybe a somewhat nicer place that was doing well before the riots being offered at a discount. How realistic would it be to eventually find a competent manager for day to day operations who would be willing to continue generating a decent profit without it 'disappearing'?

Any constructive thoughts or advice on the matter would be appreciated, or especially any links to a website that might cover this topic more in depth, haven't been able to find much myself browsing online.

I aint no expert, but if you look around, any part of ''Thailand'' there is loads of Massage Parlors and most are quiet..

Personally i would not want to loose or waste my money..

Best of luck if you do for it though..

How about a go-go bar? Are any of those owned by foreigners, I was under the impression they might be more under mob control?

We've been operating one for 18 months.

Average gross: 2.5m a month.

Average net: 550k p/m.

What do you want to know?

How much does it cost to buy one, how difficult is it to make sure that profits don't get skimmed or stolen, how much of the 2.5m goes to bribes, stuff like that along with anything i asked in the original post that you'd want to speak to?

They sell a lot of drinks too, I'd imagine you take in a lot more on drinks towards the gross than bar fines, though the profit margin on barfines would be higher.

You need to manage it eyes (and hands, so to speak) on the entire time. Do it like that from day one and you will be okay.

The interview process is just the daily lunch time bonus.

That's definitely part of the appeal to the idea for me, but I don't want to do it if it isn't profitable or I'm going to get forced out by Thai mafia or be in danger owning the place and being around the establishment a lot. How much did you pay for it originally if I could ask that?
