Maak Rook

I saw some old chaps playing this. Looks like chess except the game started with all the pawns advanced one square. Most moves seemed to be the same, but strategy seemed different.

Does anyone know what the differences between maak rook and chess are?

Sure you do not mean Fah Kooat...Bottle Tops. Where people like taxo drivers play draughts with bottle tops while they were waiting (or they used to in older times). Now I guess they use their iphone games more.

Well, the correct spelling would be in Thai script.

I googled it with that spelling,but found it on Wiki with a different spelling. Wiki's article is excellent, so my question is answered.
