You all make me laugh condoning this military intervention. Red shirt, yellow shirt, pink shirt with polka dots, who cares, it is a coup d'état !!!! It is clear evidence the country is not a democracy but a dictatorship, SIMPLE! The people have a right to protest within the law. Trouble causers should be arrested by the police. The police should have overall control of the civilian population via orders given by the elected government. SIMPLE! NO not here folks the police are governed by the military, the military choose who and how to govern the country. The place is and always has been a military dictatorship. And although neutral towards any particular party i can only comment on hard facts and "like it or not" when Thaksin was ousted no can can argue the country was not, at the time on an upward spiral economically. An elected government not partial to dictatorship is not allowed to succeed here folks. SIMPLE!

It was on an upward spiral, same as a ponzi scheme. It was always going to collapse.Did you notice, the closer it got to the end the more the govt.tried to borrow to cover their arse,ie rice scam money missing. The Senate caught them out and that, plus the desperation of the amnesty bill was the beginning of the end.Personly i hope tne Army stay around for 5 years. At least those Skype broadcasts from Dubai will stop.A sad man will be wither away with no access to the media.I hope those huge billboards with the smiling felon with his arm around some sycophant come down, been making me ill for years.

I take it that ALL the PDRC Leaders are being similarly blockaded from leaving the country and taken to army barracks - all in the interests of fairness that I keep on reading about here...............

It would seem that PDRC leaders not only are in the habit of fleeing the country, but even return from planned brief visits abroad like the chap arrested two days ago arriving at swampy. On the other hand UDD and other red shirt leaders have earned a reputation of dodging.

BTW there was nothing in the topic about wanting to take all UDD and red-shirt leaders to the army barracks, just the mention to prevent them from leaving the country. I may have missed a few news items though, too busy at work to keep up with you lot.

ADD: are red-shirt activists == UDD leaders ?

Very stupid what you write here. If you believe that the army idiots can resolve any problem in Thailand you are totally wrong.

Are you calling the General an "idiot" ??? or is your shirt a shade of crimson.?

Is it? Next to a few UDD guests the army also has k. Suthep and a few who accompanied him in their cozy 'safehouse'.

Im not up to date, is Mr. Jatuporn still threatening civil war and treating general Prayuth as his subordinate or he came to his senses already? I hope he is not shitting himself now as he has shown to be a very courageous speaker. Thai army has honour and cannot be bought with money.

Thai army has honour and cannot be bought with money.

This is the biggest joke I have ever heard !

So you need to learn more about Thailand. They are the true guardians of this country. They are not doing it for self interest but for the nation as a whole. Some of you guys are so negative about Thailand, why are you still here?

Wrong answer, get involved with stuff and you "might" learn something. And you don't need to try and cover your back here..........coffee1.gif

Are you suggesting get involved with the conspiracy theorists group.

What is the logic of not allowing foreigners to enter? Is this an opportunity to make life difficult for foreigners staying in Thailand? They should be careful what they wish for...again. That phrase is constantly coming back to bite Thailand in its a.s.

Anyone care to calculate how many billions of $ foreigners (not tourists) contribute here?

6-7% to Thailand's GDP

Thank you. By my rough calculations 5%, or about a cool 17 billion USD.

Not a good advert for someone that runs a language school!

I fail to see the connection. You mean my grammar is wrong again? It is not an advert for learning Thai of getting an ED visa with Walen School. Just my personal observation as I have also been fed up with months of protests and troublemakers wanting to make war. I like it nice and quiet as it used to be. Money politics have done a lot of damage to this country and I am happy that there is somebody bringing back peace and order.

Don't worry most foreigners share your views.. the red farangs are a minority.

Could be very inconvenient to tourist's who's laos visa would expire that day,or had onward transport to Bangkok for a flight, just more nails in the coffin that Tourism to Thailand is becoming.

LOL !!! ignorance is a bliss. Top of Thai army has been bought with money, opium, timber, gemstones, etc, etc...

I wouldn't be so sure about it. I actually believe they do have honour and are real patriots. True Thais.

Only country I've heard of where the military owns a bank.

FYI, TMB Bank is a public company traded on the Thai stock exchange.

True, but perhaps many fugitives will be opting for vehicular modes of escape. Afterall, one has to take ones I'll-gotten gains with them.

I am positive, I believe things will get better.

Of course, but for whom? Not the majority of voters in Thailand.

Absolutely and unequivocably they will be the ones to benefit. The voters in the north will not have to worry after leaving the polling booth that their vote has been opened & read by the local village head man..

SIMPLE!

Seems like you did not notice the police were deficient in their duties by not arresting anyone who has killed children & other innocent bystanders. Same as they were deficient in 2010 by allowing protesters with all sorts of weapons & petrol used to create mayhem.

Yes i did notice and this is exactly my point. Now ask yourself WHY they where deficient in their duties and you will eventually realize where my statements are aimed. The police are not immune to realizing where the bread is ultimately buttered.

Sorry, look at the economic data from when Thaksin was in power. He went, then it went to pot. Also you talk as if Thaksin was the Commander In Thief. Yes he did milk the pot however you only know this because it is open news. What about your man Suthep. He stole billions by fixing the palm oil prices and freezing all exports so he could monopolize the refining. You only know what you are told sir. At the end of the day you can bet your bottom dollar the scamming and thieving that really hurts this country is done by the established dictatorship, what Thaksin ever gained is but a grain of rice in comparison.

An other poster with little understanding of economics, look at the world economy around that time. Look at the government before that who implemented change that Taksin benefited from. In reality its real hard to go against the world economy, you can make it a lot worse as this current government showed but Taksin was riding the waves of a good world economy.

As economist know the world economy is a wave pattern, that explains why it was bad after.

It would certainly be good to get the farmers paid as they've waited long enough. It can now be done without either side being able to use it for political advantage.

I don't know you but to all the Yellow's in general.....a short time back your calling them stupid, uneducated and far worser names....why all the concern now over them getting paid...???

The UDD has a lot of questions to answer. The calls for secession at the UDD rally on February 23 and the call for arms - all these things they will need to address in courts of law. Chalerm and Pheu Thai gave them a free pass, but that climate clearly has changed. Prayuth is serious in that he wants the violence out. The police were either unable - or unwilling - to do so. The army is serious about the preservation of the law, and that is a refreshing change. The courts, independent agencies, and the Senate are fully functioning. The judicial system is intact, and a future of stability will become more of a reality if the judicial process proceeds as it should.

I would agree with you if it will happen to the "yellows" as well...! will it?
