Thai junta bans former leaders from leaving country

webfact

Recommended Posts

It seems like this coup is well planned by the Army.

I hope that everything will go back to normal soon.

It is a good idea to keep the former leaders in Thailand.

They misses the last time that Thaksin got away.

This has been planned for a long time, of course.

However, you don't start 'peace' by becoming a secret society, and blocking off world contact in order that your deeds cannot be monitored or seen.

It's understandable to want to locate bent and corrupt politicians running into hiding, but it is a different dish of food when you stop international commuting (between borders, that is), for foreigners who simply want to enter and exit without any malicious intent.

"Her brother taught her a thing or two also; how to transfer money out before being forced out"?

You'd know, would you? Give it a rest, please.

You have no evidence whatsoever (and repeating unsubstantiated statements from other equally ill-informed TV posters is NOT evidence).

Seems to me that if you ever had an original thought it would rattle around in your head like a marble in a tin can.

Oh but wait! Here comes another bandwagon for you to jump on...

And today's 1st Prize for The Most Childish Post goes to..............

Don't forget Thacksin was democratically elected. A d illegally removed from power.right or wrong, good or bad.

No he wasn't. You are wrong. Thaksin has only ever stood for election once and that was for the Tambon in San Khampeng. He lost that one. Other than that he was nominated by his peers as PM, he was not elected.

He did what rich megalomaniacs do, he bought a political party and appointed himself.

I don't spend my time jumping on tin cans. The marble inside my rack hurts my ears when I hear individual, egotistical thoughts, such as yours.

Give it a rest, you say. She was removed from power with evidence of malapropism, which we were not at liberty to access, but all why.

If you still have a poster of her on your wall... by all means go pull one, but when the truth comes out you owe me an apology. ;)

What no photo op'sangry.png.pagespeed.ce.Cla6z9sEn6.png

Aye, they should really organize some group photos and some massive pointing. tongue.png

It's tradition nowadays..

True. Each of the detained leaders (I don't care if it's Suthep or Jatuporn) should be sat down, the arresting soldiers standing and pointing at the 'perp', and a list of crimes that were committed laid out on a table in front clap2.gif

The heat is on.

Mr Prayuth I hope you will finish with the rogue politics in this country once and for all.

Hunting season is opened, and let someone trow the "King of Dubai" from his throne as well.

Doing a great jon so far.

How naive can one be. Everything will be rosy and hummy when Thaksin is gone. It is all about the enormous gap between rich and poor. And it ihas been boiling since early -40's. Thaksin is only a pion in the distrasous political game. And now the Army really made it a failed state.

Let's see how long it takes for General Prayuth to find a way to pay the poor beleaguered farmers, wherever they are, they deserve some real attention, not the characters in captivity in Bangkok.

.

It will probably wait for an interim government to be appointed and authorise through a cabinet resolution. That could take up to a month.

Thailand needs a true democratic government that benefits all Thais. Not the wealthy minority. If that is what emerges from this illegal coup, then it's been worth it. But if this coup is just another SCAM, then I fear big trouble ahead.

I'm only sad for Thailand and it's people.

Let's hope they are kept here for intent purposes of locating the hundreds of billions of Baht they raped, and placed in bank accounts. Let's truly hope the dosh is located, and placed back where it originally belongs or was intended for.

blimey if that starts en masse and without fear of favour there will be no one - just no-one to run the country.

I'll do it.

But I want every other Sunday off.

Is she still even here in Thailand ? If she was smart she would have got herself a Burka and headed off to see big bro.

Yeah the last i read in another article was that she and her succesor's whereabouts was unknown.

Jeeze, you guys really should check the headlines before posting.

Wouldn't it be better if they left?

Even if you mean all sides of the political spectrum that is a frightening suggestion from a supposedly intelligent western person.

You can't help yourself, can you?

You could help yourself by not making such reactionary statements - why try and focus the attention on me? It was a stupid statement worthy of criticism at the very least.

The reason they are not allowed to leave is because if they did and went to the UN they would be recognized the Gov. of Thailand there.

Wow! A government in exile that gets its orders from a criminal in exile, controlling absolutely nothing, and with nothing to steal. Now that is a political joke!

Fabby, weren't you supposed to be at that meeting the military called today? Even your idol Yingluck has shown up.

It's a question. What's so stupid about it? Why didn't you just say why you think it wouldn't be better?

Get you facts straight before opening mouth - Thaksin wasn't PM when the previous coup took place. - So the answer to your closing statement is WRONG and GOOD

Wrong and misleading.

Posted around the same time the headline you refer to came out. Great comment with the benefit of hindsight.

History....get over it....he ain't comin' back!

it's not that he hasn't tried to pave a way for his return, it looks like he's failed again. If Yingluck would have kept the rice program from becoming a scandal, and the car and housing tax discount were better studied, or the K-water project wasn't a scam, or the one tablet per child was successful, or the high speed train proposal wasn't in the mist of the slow train derailing every month, or if Yingluck did something notable or worth mentioning besides from being the first woman PM or her good shopping style maybe the Thai people would have let the amnesty bill slide, but just like her big brother she took advantage of the poor and uneducated, promised them sunshine and rainbow. Now her goons will pay the price, someone will be held accountable, anyone think it will be someone from the Shin clan is delusional. Lets hope that the people of learnt their lesson. People need to know, you are accountable for your actions and democracy is not a free pass to do whatever you want. This coup was unfortunate, but it's a means to an end. Lets hope that the powers that be won't waste this opportunity to make some changes to prevent future crisis like the last coup.

Let's hope the new ministers can collate evidence against the former incumbents quickly and the NACC and the courts can get trials under way speedily without letting any of these crooks leave the country.

The only way to stem corruption is to put a number of high profile politicians in prison for stiff sentences and confiscate all of their assets to show that crime doesn't always pay. The Sarayud government failed to do this out of terror of Thaksin coming back again and refused to cooperate with the AEC that was investigating the Thaksin government's corruption.

I feel a little sorry for Yingluck but she is not mentally deficient and made her own decision to jump whole heartedly into the lies, deception and massive thievery from taxpayers and farmers. If she has to go to jail or, even just leave Thailand for good (and be just another rich chink in Dubai), so much the better for the country.

One of the first clear signs that the new administration is serious about corruption would be a massive increase in the budgets to the NACC and the courts that deal with corruption after the Yingluck government slashed their budgets.
