Do I need a special document to leave Thailand with my child without the mother?

Hey, I wasn't sure where to post this simple question:

Me and my thai wife are married, we have a kid (1 year old).

Our kid was born aboard (not in Thailand), he has a European passport and he came to Thailand on a tourist visa exempt, he is now in overstay since a few months. He does have thai nationality as we registered him at the aboard thai embassy.

Do I need any particular document to go to Europe with my son without his (thai) mother?

Don't need it, but for the sake of ease, better to have it.

I have left with 2 kids before and no issue, never asked for anything....and that was with one child on a thai passport.

But, technically you are supposed to have a letter with her giving consent to travel alone without her...so, easy enough to get, just get it and carry it with you just in case.

Thanks. Can it be a hand written letter giving permission, or is there a special form that for?

Hand written permission with copy of her ID-card should do.

Since a few years there is increased checking if parents traveling alone with their children have permission from the other spouse.

Get a copy of her ID and get it written on there.

I don't have it yet, but planning to do just this one day and get her to write it in both English and Thai, then you can use it o/s if anyone asks also.....I would not date it.
