Gotalaugh
If you want to come to Thailand again, becarefiul what you write you may have a red link on you name at immigration Farlang who live in Thailand have learnt to think before the thwim The idea the Thai army is scouring an English language forum to look for "reds," then linking it to immigration is obsurd in the extreme. Thailand has enough sanctions about to hit it without arressting foreign holidaymakers over what they wrote in an online forum hosted in a different country. I think you are just trying really hard to feel part of a colour or movement, in this case yellow. Its pathetic and typical of the sexpat retiree who cares little for the economy as their bank balance is unaffected,. I guess you feel so much better now that you have that off your chest. It's a shame you don't know what you are talking about. Another of the ever shrinking group of pro PDRC sex pats that just doesnt understand what any of this is about. Dont worry, you`ll work it out champ Would love for you to let us all know 'what it's all about.'
bangrak
About the demonstrators taking on the streets (though their number seemed only a fraction larger than the photographers, cameramen and other reporters, who probably just happened to be there fortuitously...?), let Thailand be 'civil' with them, something like Europeans could do, and have a Police force ('assisted' by some troops, to make sure they do their job) round them all up, no violence used, and proceed to control all of their ID-cards, add a fresh picture, and a handwritten note of each individual stating its current address, plus a strong, first and last, warning concerning the illegal activity which will automatically lead to an arrest for recidivists, scan all this info (1 A4 page max.), at once, on the spot, in a new data bank, repeat the operation at every meeting or gathering, 'remove', here by force if necessary, all the second offenders, and doing so, quickly and effectively avoid the repetition of 2009/2010. The ones caught would not be sent to jail, but spread over military camps, where for a few weeks they could enjoy a healthy, and sobering, life. Well, that's what I would do, but I'm just a Farang, and no general...
attento
But they were not welcome in America so they moved to Thailand and joined the Thai visa forum so they could cry "Burn the red shirts" "Burn the red shirts" "Its all Thaksin (the devils) fault" You missed a few. Some are crying about "burning the Yellows ". How fortunate that there are some rational TV Posters who are colour blind.
Popular Post Overcome
Lets hope the next move by the generals will be to kick out all those farangs that are here on tourist visas for for cheap pxxxs, making money without the correct visas and all those guys that do the border crossings until recently. I notice the generals are now in charge of the police and the immigration falls under the RTP. Lets see the wining that starts with all those farangs once their tourist visas are not renewed. I am seeing all the time the winning on TV and all I can do is at it. I would suggest the generals the following changes to the Immigration rules so we get rid of all those Farang banocks. 2 x Tourist visas and you are out of the country for six months. No border crossings for farangs of which the government of their country gives a negative reaction to the coup. Foreigners that want to stay longer them one year in Thailand, should deposit 5 million Baht in a Thai bank account. Thailand has been to nice to all those foreigners that come to Thailand for the past years, so let the generals also clean up the immigration act and put it more on par with HK, Japan, Australia, Singapore etc. For me, I have a PR so I am not worried about it as I paid millions of Baht in taxes. Oh yes, in regards of overstay increase the amount to 250,000 Baht or three years jail. Illegal working in Thailand 500,000 Baht or 6 years jail. If Prayuth can do this one I might forgive him for his coup but at least he get rid of those farangs which must be in the thousands. Want to reply to this post? Popular Post Mackie
I really don't understand what's the fuss about this particular law. It's like any other law. You either abide by law or not. If you are stupid enough not to abide by be prepared to face the consequences. As simple as that. This law doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's up to Thais to decide whether they want to change it or not.

Popular Post umbanda
I hope foreigners understand that its are guest here, and the Thai culture, economy, and social reality, have nothing in common with most of the western countries. With a very small territory and enormous population, Thai Government is totally right imposing limits to the right of foreigners, specially in the work place and in the land ownership. Foreigners trying to get around these limitations, are not making any favor to the ones living here respecting the Thai laws and rules....and may give reasons for the Government be even more restricted and vigilant.

Libel and defamation are offences punishable by prison sentences. Even if prosecutions are not consistently pursued, the implicit threat of imprisonment under these laws acts to create an environment of self-censorship. Amnesty International renews calls on authorities to amend these laws to conform with the government’s international legal obligations." One can be accused of violating Thai lese majeste law even when outside the country and then arrested when entering Thailand, Ref: Amnesty International Anniversary Article (It's amazing to me that it wasn't blocked)

rickirs
Well, I can appreciate the Junta's prosecution of violators of lese majesty law and coup orders as well as violators of internal security laws who will face court martial from the viewpoint of controlling the population during this "transition" period back to democracy. But by suspending the Constitution with only the exception to Article 2 with the King as Head of State and completely disbanding all the elements of the Government (including the Independent Organizations), an accused would seem to have no rights from arbitrary and capricious prosecution. And being tried by a martial court operating under the sole legislative authority of General Prayuth might seem a conflict of interest. A better fascade of justice might be achieved if Prayuth restored the Administrative and Criminal Courts. Though if he did, it might not be surprising that he would maintain ultimate authority over any court decisions.
Popular Post Frank James
The dialog on these forums lately has taken a really ugly tone. I find it appalling that so many farangs have come out as cheerleaders for the current "situation", and seem to be calling for the removal or even liquidation of anyone who questions or objects in any way to what is coming down. They use words like "scum" and "trash" to designate the perceived enemy. I won't bother making comparisons to other hostile takeovers than have stained human history, but there is hope in remembering that they all came to a bad end, eventually. May it pass quickly. Pray for Thailand.

Thai at Heart
*Deleted post edited out* Not really. The BBC, CNN et al would do well to assign reporters who won't take the easy route when reporting and who would actually do an indepth analysis. Of course. I get it now. That would be the version put forward by Suthep. So who appointed the judges, and who made the laws and institutions through which Yingluck has been brought down. What was she guilty of again? Not corruption you will find. Abuse of power. And what do we have now. A constitution suspended by a gun. And that isn't abuse if power?
