I have been told by a friend, that if i do 6 striaght back to back 30 day visa runs I will have to remain outside of Thailand for 6 months?

There is no such policy currently in effect as far as anyone here knows. Can't say it could not happen but what you seem to have heard seems to rank in the rumor mill category at this time.

To avoid any possible issue you only need to obtain the proper visa entry. As you did not state your reasons for being here we can not help you much on that account. Have you read the pinned item about visa types?

If you have money the investment visa.

If you can obtain employment a visa on that basis.

If over age 50 retirement; or if can not meet the extension requirements it is usually possible to obtain a multi entry O visa from Penang if you can show about 200k in a Thai bank account.

Most people seem able to obtain 3 entry tourist visas from Penang currently.

But can get a (B)Visa +w/permit in 2 months returning to teaching, ah back to work again at 56.

Just this time I'm on my sixth straight run across the river.

When I was told the rumour about 6x30 days visa on entry its bye thailand for 6 months.

Plus as I'm in the far N/East long way to Penang.

As long as you don't cross in a beach Speedo or world traveler short shorts hairy chest look don't believe you will have any problems.

It is best to also have the required 10,000 baht just in case asked, although believe only North/West exits have asked many for this.
