Former minister gets 8 years for carrying child porn

SAN FRANCISCO — A former St. Cloud minister was sentenced Thursday in a California federal court to more than eight years in prison for trying to bring child pornography into the United States from Thailand.

Mark Godbey Moore, 53, of St. Cloud, pleaded guilty to transporting and possessing child pornography.

He was found with more than 1,000 pornographic images during a routine search of his luggage at San Francisco International Airport in October.

He was returning to the United States from Bangkok, Thailand, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Moore is a former minister for Extended Grace Ministries, which is affiliated with the Jubilee Worship Center in St. Cloud. Messages left at the church were not immediately returned Friday. Extended Grace Ministries is affiliated with several overseas orphanages.

After the airport discovery, Moore was allowed to return to St. Cloud but was arrested Oct. 18 and extradited to California for prosecution.

Along with prison time, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White sentenced Moore to eight years of supervised release.

As a condition of that release, Moore must pay $17,500 in fines to a charity that helps sexually exploited children.

The photos contained images of prepubescent children being subjected to bondage, sexual torture, bestiality and sex acts with adults.

According to an ICE news release, the sentence is one of the longest imposed in Northern California for a noncontact offense.

Moore is in the custody of U.S. Marshals. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation.
