Any automotive GPS/Satnav units that are aware of Bangkok time-variable road directions?

Featured Replies

(splitting this into it's own question and heading in hopes it will attract answers; apologies if wrong forum)

Hi,

does anyone know if any of the automotive GPSes are aware of the time-sensitive lane and direction restrictions when driving in Bangkok and route accordingly? Which brands/models are these?

(And is this map dependent? ESRI/Navteq?)

Thank you

Good Question !!!

Maybe you can ask the guys from GpSociety (Esri) direct ? [email protected]

Or maybe even ask Maurycy from EagleGPS, he is very knowledgable [email protected]

Haha

It's ok no worries

You're right I should just "go to the source"

the problem is that I don't speak Thai and I've built up an aversion to talking to "official channels" because it just takes so much effort (and too often, end up with incomplete/inaccurate information). So I hoped to try my luck here.

The email address i gave you (1st one) is from the source, just google "GPS society BKK" which are the official Garmin distr. in Thailand / ESRI..

The other email is from a Garmin dealer in Chang Mai (Farang) which knows a lot about GPS related stuff here in Thailand

I hope it helps a bit.

Any chance I can talk you into doing all the work? If it turns out to be a nice simple succinct reply from them, you can go ahead and laugh at me :)

But if it involves a lot of back and forth where you explain and re-explain what you're trying to find out...then I guess my reluctance is warranted!
