Do any local Thais or expats ever take anti-malarials?

not necessarily, did I intend to limit it to the Thailand up to the borders, but perhaps Vietnam, Laos, and Burma, India, Assam excursions.

seems doxycycline may be the only thing one might want to use, in a true malarial area, wherever the closest one is to Thailand ?

I just finished the book "the fever" and "the answer to the riddle is me"(on the harm methaquine/larium can do, having took it myself 20 years ago, and have anxieties) ; am now reading "bitter pills" (on quinalones - eg Malarone ) and "mosquito" ;

permethrin clothing, and juice, etc.; i'm wondering if the mozzies really land on clothing before skin, and if so if the type of clothing where the permethrin is embedded can be re-charged, or will it just wash off with each washing..

I'm reading mixed reviews of using traps, from totally effective, to could make things worse, unless used very carefully ; also the expense of using octenol attractants for it
