Student visa basics

Hi, I have a triple entry tourist visa so I'm good for another 5 months or so

My question is regarding student visas

Do I have to live near a city or can I learn Thai online during student visa ?

How soon do I have to apply for student visa prior to tourist visa expiring ?

Also same question with regards to applying to a school course to learn Thai ?

Obviously I'm clueless so far

You will have to enroll in a school and get the documents to apply for an non immigrant ED visa at a nearby embassy or consulate.

As long as you have the paperwork for the ED visa prior to your permit to stay running out for any your tourist visa entries you could go out for the visa. You should check with a school to see how long it normally takes to get the paperwork.

I asked Walen about it for a member that lives out of town up here in Ubon and they said it could be done.

With the Skype arrangement it is like you were sitting in the classroom and you can ask questions.
