Hi everybody :D

The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has this Non-Immigrant-O Visa:

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2381.php#non

O for "Other activities:

"to stay with the family, to perfrom duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations,

to stay after retirement for the elderly, to receive medical treatment, to be a sport coach as

required by Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process."

- I'm Dutch, engaged to a Thai girl, going to get married to her soon.

- I do have a long term and close relationship with my (future) In-Laws

and their relatives already as well.

Will they give me a Non-Immigrant-O??

Do I qualify?

Until now I just used my passport, so I have no idea..

After you are married you should be able to receive a non immigrant O visa but before that time it is probably not likely to be issued by any Consulate in the area around Thailand.

I had no problem getting a Immigrant O visa at the Consulate in Montreal with the marriage license, pictures and passport.

Actually quite easy with the marriage license

Unfortunately, when I arrived at the Bangkok airport the immigration officer stamped the wrong visa, or completely ignored the new visa so I am still on my immigrant B visa.

Strange, Strange. My advice is, you've to clear up that as soon as possible in your immigration office.

And what you mean with "marriage license"? ...application?

For your entry into Thailand you filled out an arrival card. What visa number, if any, did you write on that card: the number of your new non-O visa, or the number of your earlier non-B visa?

I put the new O visa on the arrival card, opened my book where the O visa was stamped.

I have no clue what happened

So at the immigration here they thought it was funny that I paid the money for this O visa since I wasted the money. They didn't see this as a problem just have to do it again later.

I always like to take care of any possible problems that could occur yet since I've moved here, often my efforts in thinking ahead are futile.

So at the immigreation office they say nothing can be changed now.

They asked me why did the officer in Bangkok not do his job properly?

I wondered that too.
