thai residence permit application

Featured Replies

I am presently living in Thailand and am about to apply for a 3rd extension to my "retirement" visa.

When this visa expires i intend to apply for a "Residence Permit".

I am married to a Thai national (i.e. my wife)

Can you advise what supporting documents i must submit with my application.

Thank you

You are not qualified to apply for permanent residency because you are not working here with a work permit and paying taxes.

For those who are interested and qualified there is a mine of information in the Camerata thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/74654-cameratas-guide-to-the-permanent-residence-process/. You need to have been working in Thailand on a work permit for 3 years and the applications are only accepted once a year in December. So that effectively means you need to have been working for 3-4 years.

Males who are married to a Thai have since 2008 the option of applying for citizenship direct without obtaining PR first, if they have been working for 3 years. Fees are significantly less and you can apply any working day of the year. Women with Thai husbands don't need to be working.
