DrChopper Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I wonder if anyone has experience of this, and could advise any feedback. Having lived in Thailand for the last 3 years I recently moved to Singapore for work. We are getting married in August but I am busy between now and then and not likely to get back to bkk on a weekday so last week I came back and got my affirmation ready for the wedding. The embassy advised that the amphur may reject a document from May for an August wedding. Has anyone done something similar and what happened? If it is likely to be a problem and I could get back sooner would we have a similar problem trying to marry in June if the affirmation stated an intention to marry in August? Any input valuably received. Dr C.
7by7 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I understand that an AFM will expire if not used within a certain time period. I don't know what this period is, though. Maybe have your fiancée ask at the ampur where you intend registering the marriage?

Cuddlycat Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Opps! Sorry for the above reply. I lost my Internet connection. I would suggest the same. Please ask your fiancée to ask Amphur. As each of them works differently. When I made a register of married last August. I called few Amphur and they give me different information. For example, I call Bangrak and was informed to have 2 witnesses. One of them have to be an interpreter. Then I call Wattana, the officer said no witness is needed. But when I get there they asked me to get my husband's passport translate! I pointed it out to them that in an affidavit mentioned about where his passport was issued and ecperatyin date etc.. The explanation was the boss's requested. I had to get it translate but have to go back the next day with an upset husband :-p So I was the interpreter and the officer were a witness for me.
