My Ed Visa paperwork took a bit longer than 30 days to be sorted out at the Education Ministry (which meant I had to pay 1900 Baht to extend my visa again for 7 days, here in Bangkok, way, way out there at Chang Wattana), but it's now ready. Can't complain, since I had no idea what kind of delay there would be, given the situation with the coup.

I would like to ask you all to give me your advice on scooting across a border to officially apply for the visa at a Thai Embassy in another country. I'd like to do the most painless (closest to BKK and an embassy that isn't known to give you too many headaches) and, ideally, cheapest run.

Anyone made a successful run recently? Care to tell me where you went and how the process was? Do I want to go to Savannakhet? Vientiane? Penang? Phnom Penh?

I want to plan my trip today, so if you have any tips, please share as soon as you can. wai.gif

From Bangkok Vientiane would be the best location.

You go there overland or by air to Udon Thani. And then from there to the bridge in Nong Kai and then to Vientiane.

Info for consular section here: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/en/consular/consular_check/

Thanks for that. I booked with Nok. I like that they have the coaches and everything all included from Udon Thani to Vientiane and vice-versa. Quite reasonable.
