CFC Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I am running Windows 7.0 on my PC and quite like it but I have got 2 issues with my PC. On start up I get an error message about a file missing and I have a spyware file I cant get rid off. When I bought my PC i didnt get a Windows 7 CD otherwise I could do a fresh install and sort out these issues. My question is, if I buy a Windows 8.1 CD and do the upgrade is it like doing a fresh install and it will remove these 2 problems or is it more like an upgrade and these problems will remain.
Chicog Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 If you're installing a new windows I'd recommend you do a Fresh install every time. 1
Jiu-Jitsu Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 How about some more details about the PC? Does it have a name and model number?
CFC Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 If you're installing a new windows I'd recommend you do a Fresh install every time. So when you start the install it gives you the option off fresh install or upgrading.
alfalfa19 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I would not consider that an upgrade. In my opinion, win 7 is their best OS yet. Why not take the computer to a computer professional and see if they can fix your problem?
rhythmworx Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Download hitman pro its free for 1 month, after that month it will still scan but not remove malware. http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro P.S. What is the name of the file that is missing?

Why not take the computer to a computer professional and see if they can fix your problem? After posting the original post I thought to myself why do I want to spend 5000 Baht on Windows 8.1 when I prefer Windows 7.0. Gates has got enough money, its silly making him even richer if you can help it. I spent an hour reading up on the internet about the issues my PC had and have now resolved them. Happy Days. 2
NeverSure Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I wouldn't be running 8 (8.1) on my laptop even though it shipped with it except that it won't run on 7. I tried it. Toshiba didn't make 7 drivers for this newer laptop and I learned that the hard way by not checking first. I had to revert (format and reinstall) to 8 to have all of the drivers I needed. 7 will be around a long time, I believe. XP was so much more stable than 98 because it did a CRC on every OS file as it booted and replaced them if needed from a cache. No more formatting and reinstalling every 6 months. XP hung around for 12 years and is still on many computers. But 7 is so much better. Now if they'd just put the backup imaging scheduler back on 8 like it is on 7 and dump the crazy new backup, I might start to like 8.
Chicog Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Win 8 is the best yet apart from the horrid interface - easily fixed with free tools like Classic Shell. Sent from my SM-N900T using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
ThaidDown Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 If you do not want to shell out for Win 8.1 then why not download an official copy of Win 7 and burn to DVD. You can then try to repair your installation. Ref the 'spyware file' if it cannot be removed by the usualMalwarebytes/Superantispyware/hitmanPro/Bitdefender then post its name. Maybe some more specialised remover is required. Official win 7 .iso s available here http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links Note these are NOT cracks but official MS releases, scroll down the page to get the version and language that matches yours.
