Hello

This thread is more to those that drove or own this car. Do you have any bad experience with this new accord (gen9).

The car is great but the road noise + wind noise drives me nuts on longer distance. The faster i go, the louder it gets.

Tyres are stock and i believe Michellin pilot sport 3 on 18 inch wheels. can this be the cause for that excessive road noise ?

I've fixed the wind noise abit by tighten up the window isolation.

My wifes 2013 civic is much more quite on the same road conditions. in my opinion.

i plan to change the tyres to another brand if this is really the cause and would help.

The honda dealer cant really help. they always say "oh its normal"

p.s.: I also noticed some weird rattle noise when the air conditioner compressor is working

Posted

Change to Mich Primacy.Much quieter. Road noise is a prob but never had wind noise in new Accord or last years Civic Navi.Air Cons silent on both.Civics the noisy one imo.

Posted

so the michellin primacy 3 ST offers good grip + less road noise compared to the road noise of the pilot sport 3 ? and what is air cons ?

edit: oh air conditioner. ok well everytime the compressor runs it doesnt make a loud noise but there is this rattle noise everytime it runs, ill make a video today and post it here. honda said its normal - i dont believe it

thanks. unfortunately i live in chiangrai and only have 2 selections. both suck

next time when i go to bangkok ill try the big dealers. thanks alot ace of pop thumbsup.gif

will def. go to get the primacy 3 ST today.

Go and look at similar cars and check the tire specs. There is a slim chance they mounted the wrong tires on your accord. Play with your tire pressures. If your tires meet manufacturer's spec I wouldn't mess with them. Looks like your car has the upgraded wheels and tires over the base.

well the tyre pressure 33 front , 32 rear. and the tires come with the car like this from the dealer (michellin pilot sport 3) comes only with the TECH model of the accord i believe since its the only model with 18 inch wheels

Posted

and there is not alot of accords in chiang rai and when i see one its a 2.0 one. honda has the 2.0 navi as test car which doesnt has the same engine , air conditioner or tyre. so its hard for me to compare

I can recommend Honda Hua Hin,, Phitsanulok Central, and Ubon Rat, who we buy off, for loyalty reasons. I'm in Krabi a lot but wander about toooo much. i use Tire Plus, they have the latest Alignment Jigs and seen them re set the Civic and Accord rear setting even from new ..Because we clicked for Dunlop and Goodyear Extra Noisy ones,Change to Mich from new and got good allowance OE.

I have a 2014 Accord 2.0EL Navi and experincing clatter as well from steering mount area, driver side vent, center console, left B-pillar and rear retractable shade. Is this common for the Accord? Can I get serviced at any Honda dealer? I don't have wind and road noise problem with mine.

Hondas are known for a bit of road noise, but owners tolerate that because they are otherwise great cars, and more a pleasure to drive than Toyotas. And, in that segment, it is known that the Camry and Teana are a bit quieter than the Accord. As far as rattles, in any Honda, that is very disturbing, but especially in their top model Accord. That reflects on shoddy factory build quality & inspection rather than engineering, and is unacceptable for any modern car.

The good news is that dash rattles can usually be found and fixed rather easily, so I would go to the dealer and have them get to work dismantling the dash and tightening screws.

about the air conditioner problem

i found a video that EXACTLY reflects my problem

else than that the excessive road noise is because of the michellin pilot sport 3 tires. i plan to change it to the primacy 3 ST to hopefully reduce it.

ye on bad roads the car feels like its gonna fall apart. i hear many mechanical sounds that hurt abit. will let honda check the screws

I just put PS3 tires on my civic and the noise level is ok. These are more performance orientated and will be a little noisier than a softer comfort orientated tire. You also have 18" wheels and low profile tires. This exacerbates noise levels quite a bit. 16 or 17 inch tires and higher sidewall tires will be quieter. I noticed a big difference in sound between 15" and 17" on my honda. Then you can do a full sound insulation inside your car if you want it quieter. Failing that, buy a teana:)

Hondas also have noisy aircon compressors that run a lot, but they should not clatter as in that video. If you have lots of weird sounds, that is definitely not right. Did you buy the car new or 2nd hand? If used, How many kilometers did it have on it, and what was it's history -how many owners did it have, etc..? I don't want to say it, but every manufacturer can produce "lemons," which are quickly sold by the first owner.

Let us know, because this is quite extraordinary for any Honda, let alone an Accord.

i bought it new last year. got it now for 11 month

it made so far about 22'000 km. the car is great but these issues really takes of the shine of the car. i have visited the thai accord owner forum (with google translator - works better than i thought) and saw ALOT of these complains.

many damped the car (50k baht), added Tein street advanced suspension + edfc (80k baht) and changed the tires to primacy 3 ST. IMO money waste as you can buy a bmw 318i for that price then

Aftermarket coilovers will just make the ride even stiffer. Nice if you want to go around a track. Is damping really 50k? Thought it would be lot cheaper.

Posted

well the 50k baht package includes the whole car with a high quality damping material. not sure if it really will help with the road noise. some say it does some say it doesnt cuz the sound comes through the door frames. but the accord already has a triple rubber layber for the frames.
