THAI blame Fedex for sending bullets to US embassy in PPenh

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways blamed Fedex on Tuesday for the mislabelled shipment that sent 140,000 bullets, instead of artworks, to US Embassy in Cambodia.

The US Embassy in Phnom Penh had ordered four pieces of artworks from the US to decorate the office. It was notified of the artworks arrival on June 7 and had collected them on the same day.

However, it found the consignment of 140,000 bullets instead of what they ordered.

The Embassy returned the shipment to the cargo warehouses on June 10,

"THAI conducted an immediate investigation," said the press release.

"(THAI) found that the issue occurred at origin where the warehouse handling in Newark airport, which appointed by the forwarding agents of the US Dispatch Agency to handle the shipment, had mislabeled the Artwork shipment with other shipment. Such shipment was forwarded to Bangkok by Fedex instead of the right one," said Thai Airways in its press release.

Meanwhile, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered an investigation into why a consignment of 140,000 bullets was mistakenly sent to the US embassy in Phnom Penh by a Thai airline.

The premier also ordered his officials to determine where the bullets -- which did not include the powder charges -- were destined for.

The embassy said that the bullets had no connection to Phnom Penh and were headed for Finland.

An easy mistake.

One parcel contains 4 artworks to go to Cambodia, one parcel has 140,000 bullets, without powder going to Finland.

They are both parcels.

Now which one is which? :D

Anyone got a metal detector? :D

50/50 chance ........ Bugger. :D

And Thai cops it for being the courier used by Fedex.

It could only happen in ....... (this time not Thailand :o )

I have a little trouble understanding how this story is newsworthy--not a dig at TV--it's been in the newspapers as well.

Is it a really slow news week?
