after thinking and weighing out options whether or not to go to savannakhet or not, decided to just go with a 60-day extension and try a trip to USA in october, and if that doesnt work out then i will hit up savannakhet. so im just looking for some simple answers here :)

currently on a non-o single entry, volunteer. expires august 16.

i am married to a thai woman and we have a child together.

planning on a trip to USA (as long as her visa gets approved) in october so i just need an extra 60 days and will apply for actual visa in USA before returning to thailand.

i can apply for a 60-day extension based on marriage at immigration, correct? (live in chiang rai)

when do i need to do it by (current visa expires august 16)?

what is (typically) required?

need to prove any funds since it is just a 60-day?

thanks.

You can get the 60 day extension without a problem.

Your wife will need to go with you to immigration when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate, her house book and ID card plus copies.

Great. Thanks guys. No photos or map of where we live right? Just marriage certificate/birth certificate and not that other one... What was it called again.... You get it at an amphur to show your marriage is still valid?

Don't forget, you will also need household registration book of wife, or proof of address if living elsewehere than registered.

How do you get proof of where we live... Is rental contract okay? It is different than where it is registered on her house book

House book copy will be needed along with rental agreement.

Ubonjoe- will I need a copy of the house owners housebook and her ID? Or just our rental contract? It's under my wife's name.

Best you bring a current copy of your rental contract, plus signed copies of Landlord's ID Card and House Book for where you rent.

You will need to get your over seas marriage registered at Amphoe.

In my experience you'll also need a passport photo. I don't know if this is a new requirement or not (or even if it's only required at certain offices) , but I needed one two weeks ago when I got my 60 day extension based on marriage.

For a 60 day extension it does not have to registered here. They will accept the marriage certificate issued from another country.

To register the marriage you need to have the marriage certificate certified at your embassy. If they cannot certify it you can do a self certification by doing a statement stating that it is true and correct at your embassy. Then you need to get the marriage certificate and certification translated to Thai and the translation certified by the Ministry of Foreign affairs. Then you can go to an Amphoe and register the marriage and receive a Kor Ror 22 (foreign marriage registry). They will update your wife's house book and ID card if she chooses to take your name.

Ok so long and short of it is that the following is needed for a 60 day extension....

My wife comes with me to immigration.

Marriage certificate

Child's birth certificate

Wife ID

Wife housebook

Signed copies of house owners ID and housebook (we rent)

That's all, right? Can you do 90 day or is it only up to 60? What is the typical fee for this? Thanks for all the help

I posted above that I needed a photo for my 60 day extension. Your post was made 4 days ago, so I'm going to assume you've already gone to immigration. Did you need a photo?
