retired persons visa

Featured Replies

I have lived here for 3 years on a retired persons visa . When i was last in the U.K. i ended up getting a triple entry visa as they have changed things in Hull.

So i intend to go to Laos in the hope of getting my retired persons visa again . The internet site for the Thai embassy in Vientiene states that i need a police clearance letter, medical certificate and C.V. as well as the proof of income etc. Has anyone recently obtained a retired person or retirement visa or have any information . Much appreciated .

If you are wanting a multiple entry non-o visa you will not get one in Vientiane.

If you have 800K baht in the bank you might get one in Phuket.

You can only get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane. You could then use 90 day entry fro it to apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration.

The requirements on the Vientiane webpage is for a OA visa that only a Laotian or a resident of Laos can get.

There isn't really a "retired person visa" There's no need to get an O-A Long stay visa. Get an non-imm O and while in Thailand apply for an extension of stay based on retirement.

If you stayed here for three years by getting extensions of stay from immigrations, that's not a visa. If that's the case and you are in Thailand now on an extension, then 30 days before it expires apply for a new extension at Immigrations if you have the money in the bank or an income statement from your embassy. No need to go out for a new visa if you are here on an extension of stay.

Otherwise you can get a non-imm O visa outside the country and in the last 30 days go to immigrations to apply for an extension of stay based on retirement. Renew that each year at Immigrations. No need for a new visa if you renew the extension each year and , if you want to travel outside the country, you get a re-entry permit.
