Triple vs. double entry?

Featured Replies

My friend called the Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. and was told he can get a three entry visa, but he was also told he had have to show proof of three exits out of Thailand. I guess he could get a double entry and at the end leave to a nearby country and apply for a new double entry visa which looks like it takes only a couple days.

Is the three exit itineraries typical?

And would a double entry require two exit itineraries?

This is a young man who would like to stay in Thailand for a while hoping to get employment with a work permit.

Thoughts, please and thanks

What is required to get a tourist visa depends upon where you apply for it. Asking for tickets out for each entry is not that uncommon

The embassies requirements are here. http://www.thaiembdc.us/dcdp/Tourist_Visa

A 2 entry visa would give him almost 6 months without needing a new visa. A 3 entry can give almost 9 months. He could go to Laos for a 2 entry tourist visa if needed.

If he lives near a honorary consulate he might want to check with them to see what they require to get a tourist visa. He would have to apply in person because mail in applications are not allowed. Contact info: http://www.thaiembdc.us/dcdp/Thai_Consulate_Directory2

So, is an in-person visit required only for tourist visas?

My O-A was easily done by mail in NYC 2 years ago.

Thanks

The no mailed in applications rule only applies to honorary consulates. NYC is an official consulate along with LA and Chicago..
