I have a non-O multiple visa. I know that I can go to Immigration when I have 45 days left of my stay. If I go 45 days before and get the one year extension, will it start when I apply for it? Or after the 45 days has gone and my visa is finished? I have the Embassy 65k a month letter and I'm over 50 years.

It will start when you apply for it, but please check with your local immigration if they allow it 45 days or 30 days before your permission of Stay ends.

Most, but not all, want you to apply during the final 30 days.

The 12 months will start when your current permission to stay ends.

Trust Lite Beer on this one however when my friend did the extension, they used the date that he Applied and every year he has to go back before that date to renew.

Maybe different rules for different Immigration offices

All extensions at all immigration offices start form the permit to stay date that is being extended not the date of application,

Perhaps your friend was doing a conversion to a non immigrant visa entry those do start on the date you apply.

Your extension will be until 30 August 2015 if you apply in July.

No. It extends your current stay (thus the name "extension of stay") so it will be added on from when your current permission to stay ends.

People apply for annual extensions of stay anywhere from 30 to 45 days before their current extension or permission to stay expires and the new extension is always added on from the point where the current one ends, not from the date they go in to immigrations to apply.
