Quick report: Successfully obtained a single-entry non-immigrant O visa in Penang a week ago on the basis of being over fifty years old and seeking the one-year retirement extension in Thailand. Showed over 800K in funds using a combination of bank deposit and an embassy-generated income verification letter. Used an agent, did not need to make the trip to the consulate myself.
