bkkgooner
The 2nd entry of my double entry tourist visa expires on June 30th. I wish to extend for another 30 days but unfortunately my passport is now full. I have received a new passport and want to transfer my stamp into new passport and then get it extended for 30 days. is it possible to get this done easily in Chaengwattana? rajyindee
Yes. They may (or may not) ask for a standard letter from your embassy certifying that your new passport has replaced the old one. There is a Thai Immigration form to complete - you can download it from the Immigration website in either Word or .pdf format. No photos are required, but I'd make copies of the photo page and relevant stamps/TM6 from the old passport and the photo page from the new passport. There is no charge. bkkgooner
A letter from my embassy? Oh deary me...... Your reply is really helpful thanks a million for the link
ubonjoe
Recent reports are that Bangkok immigration does want the letter from your embassy. Some embassies give it to you with your new passport others will make you ask (or beg) for it.
bkkgooner
Unfortunately i didn't read your reply before I left work to go to immigration. After sitting waiting for 1 hour and 30 minutes I was shot down within about 10 seconds of sitting in front of the immigration officer I was rather pissed off to say the last also another guy was denied within 5 seconds of me as well. Does anyone know if the Irish consulate will give you a letter easily? Edited June 25, 2014 by bkkgooner
ubonjoe
I am sure they will do the letter without a problem. I am sure it will not be the first one they have done.
bkkgooner
Think the consul is only there on Tuesdays and Fridays. My stamp is for June 30th does that mean if I try to extend on Monday I will have overstayed for one day already?
ubonjoe
Their website states they are open Monday to Friday. http://www.irelandinthailand.com/default.asp?content=mpagedetail&id=17326 Monday is the 30th so you would not be on overstay.
