BMW 320d Experiences?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a new car and consider a BMW 320d for various reasons, comfort, economy and safety.

Does anybody have experience with it?

Does it really deliver on the 22 km/l?

How reliable is it?

How is service?

Ask the TV member who got 2 broken gearboxes after 2 weeks...

In Bangkok with it´s huge traffic jams you can expect to have 7-8L for 100km with a 320D. A x25i straight six can use up to 14,5L of gasoline for the same task. But I never cared about fuel economy, so maybe less is possbile. Outside BKK on a lonely road 6l maybe 5,5l should be realistic with aircon. I don´t know if under 5l is possible in Thailands driving conditions, never tried that hard.....

Not that it matters a lot when you consider the cars prices, but the difference between 100km diesel and petrol is quite impressive:

7,5L of diesel for 100km = 225B

14L of gasohol 95 for 100km = 574B

Service can be from facepalm.gif to thumbsup.gif . The Millenium dealers in BKK have a very different level of quality.

If the gearbox is not broken, the 320d is a lot of fun with it´s massive torque. And why to worry, warranty for 5years and then you can extend it to 6years. Whatever brakes, who cares. I never had a problem, some others were less fortunate though.
