who are you behind that avatar?

Featured Replies

Although its not really important...I always wonder, what is the age range behind the posters on Thai Visa?

If you are so inclined, maybe tell how old you are currently, how old you were when you came to Thailand, and in a few short words the first reason you came in the first place....

Also, when you first came to Thailand, did you stay continuously after that, or was it a long process to get where you are today?

maybe you first came at 25 and now you are 50, but does that mean you stayed an uninterrupted 25 years?

Used to work as an engineer on dredging ships worldwide on a six week on and off basis most of my free time was spent in Thailand met a Thai lady got married and divorced and still living in my home country and have three great kids .

I'm 39, go to Thailand cause it's just up the road and it beats Kakadu for the same money.

I came here about 1993 and have worked/lived here most of the time. I came to see the temples. I hope that one of these days I get the time to actually visit one.

I came to Thailand for the nightlife, before they built all those temples.

I'm an old lady that swallowed a fly. I'm now digesting a goat. Not looking good.

I first came to Thailand in 1975 while I was still in school, shortly before my 21st birthday. Two yeas later I moved here and I recently turned 60. Thirty years in Bangkok and seven years in Chiang Rai.

I am a young man of 67.

Came here 7 years ago to sample and taste the oysters, if they are the same as in the west.

After having 2 together in one night, never looked back, and stayed in Thailand.

As about my avatar, I had to find something moving, in case I forget about it.

Hope I answered all your questions.

No need to make generalisations.

My avatar is the default, I guess I never felt the need to put anything. I have been in TL on and off starting back in 2005 for a US business. Met a lot of really nice Thai folks, love the food, like the weather, the cost of living and personal freedom compared to the US and retired here in the north with my wonderful Thai wife who I met some 3 years ago. I seldom post one liners or pick on anybody. I just do not see the value in it. There are a few posters I would like to meet. I post infrequently because I cant see sitting in front of a computer all day browsing web forums as there are so many things I like to do outside.

Reason for coming to Thailand first time was that I promised a friend. I also really was looking forward to get laid and have a nice time those first 10 days of that stay.....

Went home, sold everything and went back again 1 month later to Thailand, and have stayed here ever since..... I am today 63 and I have been living here since 2008..

Since I recently turned 60 my mind has deteriorated.

I don`t know where I`ve been, where I am or who I am. The benefits of this is that I no longer dwell on the past, no longer worry about the future, live life from day to day and rarely wonder who or what is behind the avatars.

And here is what I really do here that is probably the reality as to what most of the posters whatever they call themselves actually do in Thailand:
