My understanding is that I need to register my retirement Visa within 90 days of arriving in Thailand. The information I have so far is that I need to visit an immigration office or a police station to do this, but I cannont find a location. My google search just shows older posts from 2013 regarding temporary offices set up due to the demonstrations.

Can someone please provide a location I can visit to get this done, or provide info on what I actually need to do. I am in a temporary condo near Soi 11 Sukhamvit that I can use as a semi-permanent residence.

I have plans to visit Myanmar, Laos etc. and understand I will also need to apply for an exit visa ???

Thanks

Steevo, I haven't a clue as to what you are trying to accomplish. Do you have an "O" Visa already? Or an "O-A"? Or are you trying to apply for a One Year Extension based on retirement? Go to the Chaeng Wattana Immigration office with about 30 days remaining on your current permission to stay, have the necessary documents, financial proof, etc. When you get the extension, apply for a multi re-entry permit, 3800 Baht.

You need to do a 90 day report whenever you are in Thailand for 90 uninterrupted days. Presumably by "retirement visa," you mean you have a Non-Immigrant O-A visa, which some people call a "retirement visa."

Fill out at TM.47 which you can download here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/files/file/17-tm47-form-for-alien-to-notify-of-staying-longer-than-90-days/

You'll need this form and, depending on the requirements of the office you report to, your passport, some proof of address and photocopies of the front page of your passport, your entry card, entry stamp. Different offices require different things.

When you report they will staple a report form in your passport notifying you when you need to report next. It will be every 90 days, unless you go out of the country, in which case the 90 day count will start from the day you return to Thailand.

If you are on an O-A you can go in and out of Thailand without a problem during the first year. Just before the visa expires you can go out and return which will give you another year of permission to stay, but during the second year if you want to leave the country you will need a re-entry permit to maintain your permission to stay.

After that if you remain in Thailand, you will need to apply each year for an extension of stay based on retirement. This extends you permission to stay for a year at a time. The visa will have expired, but the extension can be renewed annually at immigrations.

I have plans to visit Myanmar, Laos etc. and understand I will also need to apply for an exit visa ???

If you are here on a Non-Imm O-A visa, during the first year you do not need a re-entry permit.

Make sure it's an O-A. If you are here on an extension of stay (not a visa) or if you are in your second year on an O-A, you will need a re-entry permit.

After the first year of the O-A entry and for as long as you are here on an extensions of stay, you'll need a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay alive. It is not a visa and it allows you to re-enter Thailand without a problem. You do not need anything to exit, but to re-enter.

You need to tell us what you have now. It seem it is probably a non immigrant OA visa that gave you a one year entry. And if it is a multiple entry visa you will get one year every time you enter the country.

There is no such thing as an exit visa here. You would need a re-entry permit if you visa is only a single entry.

If all you need to do is make a 90 day report there are 3 locations where you can do it. There is the main office is at Chaengwattama.

And then there are are two other offices that are for migrant workers but but you can make your 90 day report at them. They are located in Lad Phrao and Suksawat. See this webpage and click the links provided to find out which is the best office for you to go to. http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=location

So let me get this straight. I have an O-A Visa. I entered Thailand on the 5th of June. If I leave Thailand for say.... Myanmar on August 1st and return on August 29th, I wont have to register my visa until 90 days after I return to Thailand? I can repeat as needed.... (leave, tour Vietnam for a month) come back and the 90 days starts all over again until the one year is up in which case I will need to then go and fill out the form TM.47?

If you stay in Thailand for 90 days or more you have to do a report (it is not a registration) of doing that by submitting a TM47 form to immigration.

After you visa expires which is one year from its date issue (use before date on visa sticker) you will have to get a re-entry permit (TM8 form) if you want to travel after that date to keep you last one year entry valid.

As said no 90 day reports are due until you actually stay 90 days without leaving. With a multi entry O-A visa any entry made until the expiration date of that visa itself will get a one year permitted to stay stamp so no re-entry permits are required until a return would be after the validity of the original visa. Just be sure the Consulate issued visa is marked multi entry rather than single.
