Hat Yai airport steps up security

Hat Yai, Songkhla: -- The Hat Yai International Airport has stepped up security following a waring by intelligence agencies that it was targetted by separatists.

Wing Commander Prateep Wichittho, director of the airport, said the airport had stepped up security measures and increased the number of security officers on around-the-clock basis.

As part of the measues, officials will search vehicles, bags and search the body of passengers when they enter the inner zone of the airport.

As part of the measues, officials will search vehicles, bags and search the body of passengers when they enter the inner zone of the airport.

I hope they have warned the airlines to expect late passengers.

A full search of each vehicle and passengers will take some time,

and will stop once the first bigwig complains!! :o

It still amazes me how easy it is to take unsearched baggage into the main passenger hall at Don Muang.

The search is only just before boarding the plane. :D

Now that is a security risk, if every I saw one.
