Does anyone else have the same questions ?

I ordered a small camera from China via ebay .. When it arrived I had to pay 25B to the postie. He is one of the I dont want to talk to westerner types, he laughs, when i question him he just repeats the question, laughs and walks off.

I received a gift, a set of relatively heavy soft, motorbike panniers .. The cost from the UK was over 1500B, my next door neighbour accepted the parcel and payed an additional 7B. 7B was written on the label.

It's not the first parcel i have received, all circumvent customs duty, most dont come with a surcharge attatched, and some do.

There doesnt seem to be any reasoning .. 7B on a 1500B postage parcel ? I heard the missus mumbling 'over weight' but how can that be calculated. The other times 'service' gets mentioned, OK, so we got a postie that gets paid to do his job but charges a commission on delivery .. TiT.

Im not quibbling, if he wants a drink out of it, i would give him 500B a year if he came a bit earlier and spoke to me in a fashion most of the locals do. Im just intrigued.

If the postage applied by the sender is insufficient, the receiver has to make up the difference.

Also, literal weight and volumetric weight need to be paid for; A thin sheet of lead in an envelope will cost more than a letter, and a 1 cubic meter box full of air weighing 500 grams will cost the same as if that box contained something that weighed 5 kilograms.

Small charges between 7 and 30 b often happen when I ordered something when the main currier for example dhl send the parcel , and you live somewhere where dhl has no driver parcel forwarded to Thai post

If value is low , the item itself is not taxed but you have to pay 30 b for the tesafilm for open and close your box!
