Bollywood in Pattaya

Featured Replies

At Central there are currently two Bollywood movies running. What's up with that?? I can't imagine there being a market for these movies outside of Indian tourists so I guess that means there are lots of Indian tourists wanting to spend money on watching movies while on vacation.

The thing is if there is one place where the Indians are in a minority it's in Central, where spotting one is rare, so how there can be a market for this is beyond me.

Bollywood movies have been made here before. I remember when they used Martin Frutin's house for one a few years before he died

I've seen special Indian nights at the Avenue as well (and crowds for that). The market is of course Indian tourists and also resident Indian Thais. I would be worried that in a few years time all the English films might be dubbed in Russian with Thai subs ...

Indian film companies seem to like Thailand.

I saw them shooting a rather dull street scene for an action Bollywood film on Jomtien 2nd Road last year.

I also saw a much bigger unit on the beach at Ban Amphur where they were doing that awful synchronised dancing for some romantic comedy. Endless takes and re-takes in the blazing midday sun to a tinny playback. Must be very tiring.
