Travelling abroad with an OA 1 yr non Immigrant Visa

Featured Replies

I have just got an 1yr OA multple entry Visa. (Retirement)

I would like to travel and return home (UK) maybe 3-4 times over the year and also leave Thailand to visit

Other neighbouring countries.

Am i resrticted to just 3 entries ?

Apart from reporting every 90 days to immigration what are my other restrictions that may relate to the

above.

Appologies if this has been put elsewhere but a search didnt really give me theanswer

[edited, will leave to other to reply]

Not sure how you were searching because this is mentioned every other posting.

You can leave as many times you want. Each re-entry permit Bt 1,000, or 3,900 for multiple, unlimited times.

Agreed, but if he truly has a Multi-entry "O-A", he shouldn't need a re-entry permit until the visa is finished at the one year mark. As to 90 day reports, they are required for people staying 90 consecutive days or more. If you are traveling and don't stay 90 days, then no report would be required.

Not correct. If the OP has a current visa and not an extension (which his post strongly suggests is the case), no re-entry permit is necessary at all- he can leave and enter an unlimited number of times free of charge until the 'enter before date' stamped on the visa.

He can also stay up to a year after his last entry, even if this entry is made just one day before the 'enter before date' stamped on the visa, so this visa gives two year's permission to stay.

It is only if he leaves the country at any time after the 'enter before date' stamped on his visa, that he must buy a re-entry permit.

This is because if he leaves after the 'enter before' date, his visa (permission to enter) has now expired, even though his 'permitted to stay until' date has not . So he must then have a re-entry permit in order to be allowed back into the country and still keep his 'permitted to stay until' date active.

Correct, please ignore my answer or just edit quoting it.

Thanks for the other replies since....even the girl at the embassy couldnt answer ( unbelievably)

No instructions or what do do at the end of the one year period or even that i had to report every 90 days.

A little note slipped in would help.....bit hey this TIT....

Intrigued by your answer Partington regarding extending to 2 yr without needing the ext to stay and will look into this.....Thanks

Your multiple-entry non-O/A visa allows you to make an unlimited number of entries into Thailand until the "enter before" date shown on the visa. On each entry, you will receive permission to stay for one year.

You do need to exit and re-enter to get the second year. Do so just prior to the Visa expiring and on return you'll be stamped in for one year.

If you leave after the Visa expires, you'll need a re-entry permit or the permission to stay will be cancelled.

And remember 90 day reports are only due if you stay in Thailand 90 days or more - if you leave before 90 days the new count starts at day 1 on your return date.
