Computer Repair in Udon

Featured Replies

Hello,

Thought there might be a better response here. hope thats OK.

My Sony Vaio shows signs of either dieing or over heating.

Who knows a reputable repair shop in Udon Thani City ?

Also I want an additional USB hard disc for back up in case it dies. Am I correct in assuming a 3.5 full size drive would be more attractive in terms of lifespan than a 2.5 inch mobile drive (given that any HD can go belly up on any day of the week!)

Thanks. Paul

Have you tried a shop called Easy 108?

They're on Wattana Nuwong Road, right on the centre of town. Tel 042-224402 or 042-224566

If you google "easy 108 udon thani" you'll find an entry and a map.

I believe there is a Sony Service Center on Thahan Road, near the Toyota dealer, same side.

I use a 2.5 USB HDD in a portable enclosure. It fits my laptop bag so much better. IMHO if you have a backup both disks are unlikely to fail at the same time unless lost, stolen, fire, etc.

If you have Win 7 or 8, it's likely that it can make an image of your system drive so that you can image a new disk and be right back where you left off.

If that were my laptop, I'd google how to remove the keyboard and look at the fan(s) and vents to see if they are clogged with junk. If so I'd clean them with a soft brush, dust it out and see if that fixed it. I would also be able to see if any fans had quit working.

If you boot into the bios "startup" you can poke around and find your cpu temperature. There are free programs that supposedly read if for you (CPU-Z for one, I think) but I've often found that they don't match the bios reading.

You can image any windows os including xp using ghost

Thanks for the info guys.Taking it apart may be too much of a challenge for me with my nervous complaint so I'll go to one or both of the repair shops. I run win7 ultimate 64bit in German with Thai and English language packs so that might be challenging for them :-o
