Thai visa extension

Featured Replies

Hi, can anybody help me on this one. My 60 day visa expires on 20/7 and I would like to extend it. Where do I go to do so? Is it possible to do online? What is the cost involved? I am a U.K. Citizen. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

You go to the nearest Immigration Office. You do not say where you are.

You will need passport size photo and 1,900 Baht fee.

Thanks for that info. I am on Koh Tao at the moment but heading to Bangkok shortly. Do you know how long it will take to process?

I recently extended my visa at the Chaeng Wattana Bangkok immigration office and the whole thing took about an hour, it was very quick. I went at about 1pm when they opened after lunch.

Good stuff! Thanks. Do you get another 60 days for this extension?

30 days.

You can extend by 30 days at Immigration in Samui or Chaengwattana in Bangkok.

If you are talking about a single entry tourist visa it:

  • gets you a 60 day "permitted to stay" stamp on entry
  • Can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office in country.
  • The fee for the extension is 1900 baht.

You can get that extension at an immigration office with your passport and a passport sized photo and the extension form that they will give you.

If you are in Bangkok next week you can do that at the immigration at Chaengwattana in a couple of hours waiting time.

There is a holiday next week (the 11th I believe) so just be sure the immigration is open on the day you plan to go.

Be prepared to wait, there are usually at least 200 people every day who are trying to do the same thing.

Mondays are always the busiest day (they are closed Sat and Sun) .... Wed. or Thurs. is often a good time to go as they are less busy then.

In Chaengwattana there is a photo place on the ground floor to the rear where they do passport size photos and will copy your passport pages for immigration in less than 10 minutes .... depending on how busy they are.

There are also some fast food places on that ground floor where you can get something eat while waiting.

There are also ATM machines if you need cash.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for their advice on getting my visa extension. I managed to get it done fairly swiftly!

Could anyone tell me if you overstay a couple of days if there is a penalty? I have had to change my plans and the multiplex flight ticket I have can only get me out 2 days after my visa expires.

Would be grateful for any insight

Cheers!

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Go back to immigration you should be able to get a final 7 day extension

Bring your flight out details with you this time as well

The fine is 500 Baht a day.
