Immigration of Cambodian

Featured Replies

I have a friend from Cambodia visiting me and she arrived two days ago on a 2 month tourist visa. I have a few questions on her behalf:1) is there a way for a Cambodian to get a visa extension here?

2) how difficult for her to change her visa type and to get a work permit? Does she have to leave the country to do?

3) do you expect that your answers to the above will change when ASEAN starts next year?

Thanks in advance for your responses an

1. She can get a 30 days extension for Bt 1,900. After, 7 more days for 1,900. No more extensions after that.

2. Yes to get a work visa she has to leave country.

3. No changes for regular workers.

Thank you for your response Paz. Would she have to have a job (employer letter or contract) before she could apply for the visa and work permit, or just needs such for the work permit? If the latter, then what does she need to present to the Thai embassy for the right visa??

She will need the prospective employer to provide all the paperwork to get a working visa.

However rules for Cambodians can be different than for Westerners so she will have to check with the Thai consulate in PP and even better use an agent.
