Hello,

I am U.S. citizen (in my early 40s). I am visiting Thailand next - I've booked a round trip ticket from NY to Bangkok

Sorry, I accidentally posted. I meant to say First Visit to Thailand - A Little Confused.

I am U.S. citizen in my early 40s. I have booked a round trip flight from NY to Bangkok, departing Aug 6 and returning Oct 15.

I plan on getting a Tourist Visa before I leave. My question is - I am staying in Thailand for 5 weeks, then I am flying to Malaysia for about another 5 weeks, and returning a few days to Thailand before Oct 15 so I can catch my flight back to NY.

Will I have any problems when I re-enter Thailand from Malaysia around Oct 13 or so?

My second question is that I plan on going back to Thailand in Jan 2015. Will I have any problems getting another Tourist Visa at that time?

Thanks!

No. Back to back, can be a problem nowadays.

"second question is that I plan on going back to Thailand in Jan 2015. Will I have any problems getting another Tourist Visa at that time?"

No. Same back to back, can be a problem and when you would make such trips and Visa often. smile.png

The experts will answer you also I think.

Sorry - not sure I understand your response. Hoping someone else can chime in.

Thanks.

If your 2nd entry is before the visa "enter before date", you could get a re-entry permit at the airport for Bt 1,000.

Or, you could get a double-entry visa instead of single.

However, none of these will be necessary in practice. You can enter the 2nd time as visa-exempt, and that's it.

I would get a double entry tourist visa to avoid any hazzle when you get here. When you enter in August you will get 60 days permission to stay. Then you can travel to Malaysia and use the second entry when you come back in.. The visa shouil be valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

You could get a single entry Tourist visa and rely on a "visa exempt" entry when you come back from Malaysia. You should not have a problem but there are new rules being put in place on Aug 12 and nobody knows exactly what they will be.

You should not have a problem getting another TV in Jan 2015.

IMHO I would pay the extra $40 and get a double entry tourist visa and not have to worry!

In this case you will not experience any problems with reentering.

You have a confirmed flight out of the country within the allowed time of second entry.

You are a typical tourist, definitely not in the scope of any "crackdowns".

If you have a flight booked to go home, then you won't have a problem with entry from Malaysia. You're a genuine tourist. Same with Jan - if you book a return flight there's no reason at all that you should have any problems.
