Phuket - Penang Visa Run

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have to go on a visa run for a non-B in a few weeks to Penang and was wondering what the best way to get there would be? There seem to be so many visa run company mini-bus horror stories so I'd feel more comfortable doing it myself! Flying via Firefly also isn't an option because flights are too expensive on the dates I need.

Thanks for your suggestions!

There is a Phuket Visa run care share network now running on Facebook, maybe some one needs to go Phuket to Penang at a similar time.

Get the big bus to Hat Yai and the the mini bus to Penang, Chulia street for 300 Baht. The mini bus from Hat Yai is good because the are in no rush to get back for a certain time like the visa run buses. Let me know if you want a number for a bus to Penang thumbsup.gif

So it seems like there are no longer any vans going directly from Phuket to Penang or from Phuket to Hat Yai and then Hat Yai to Penang? I guess that sucks.

I think there may buses, but you need to check in person at the "new bus station". The one that is a little out of Phuket town, north of it.
